Martial Arts and Cuddling

edited May 2018 in General

Good morning everyone!
I wanted to share an experience I had that sparked an idea. A while back I wrote about the love of being squeezed extremely tightly a while back (https://www.cuddlecomfort.com/forum/discussion/2376/super-tight-squeeze). We ended up calling this position the anaconda :) haha.

I recently had one of those moments when worlds overlap and had to start a conversation about it. I have recently begun learning Jiu-Jitsu as a means to stay in shape and clear my mind. I was working with a very petite woman who is very advanced and very helpful. The nature of jiu-jitsu allows for smaller people to make much larger people submit. Better technique almost always wins. Long story short, I was no match for her advanced knowledge and flexibility. At one point she worked me into a position that might just be the ultimate snuggle squeeze, minus the ending choke of course. Similar to what we have named the anaconda her legs were around my waist/stomach and her arms around my chest and neck. similar to the body triangle.

I could not move! She, being a teacher was also explaining what she was doing and what she was about to do. She said that having her legs like that allowed her to generate quite a bit of force with minimal effort on her part. I said that I was doubtful and at that moment she tightened up like that anaconda and also locked her arms around neck. I was completely finished! I was thinking that this could be an amazing way to be held. Obviously leaving out the attempted submission.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

@liao51 I also do martial arts, other forms of hand to hand combat, kickboxing, weapons training, tai chi, and yoga, (among other things). :) There are a lot of wrestling forms in particular that are 'aggressive hugs' as one of my coaches once put it. lol

I think if you have a cuddle buddy who is comfortable with trying that stuff you should go for it. But you should make sure it is something your cuddle buddy wants to do before anything is attempted. :)

  • That's not for me, LOL. I too have some background in MMA. One of the reasons I don't like being small spoon (or being jet-packed) is my instinctive discomfort with "giving my back" to anyone. LOL

  • I love being cuddled aggressively tight and I thought I was the only one. I think it reminds me of childhood bonding through wrestling or something.

  • I also love being cuddled in tight variations of stress positions and submission holds. Does anybody else have that?

@quietman775 I think 'jet-packed' is an interesting term for that cuddle position. XD

@cuddlyWA I like tight holds as well. Probably because I am used to it due to being involved with wresting, martial arts, and other activities with tight holding positions.

  • As another martial artist, I suppose you could consider that a variation of spooning. Would that be a way to hold someone publicly in a park, say? Just brainstorming here.

  • @cuddlyWA you are absolutely not alone. What are some of you favorite positions?

@MoonlighSonata what are some of your favorite tight holds?

@liao51 I like the pinning hold. It's a type of grappling hold, but more like cuddling than the regular grappling hold. :P
