Potential Scam by Pro Cuddler

What would I do in the scenario that a professional cuddler, who I have seen previously with no issue, requests a deposit, and then flake on the appointment with a string of excuses? In full disclosure because we have met previously, I slid not confirm the appointment via cuddlecomfort.

    You could report it.
    You both broke terms by not confirming the session through the site and the cuddler also took a deposit but has not held up their end of doing a session.

    Make sure to confirm through the site as it can help hold both people more accountable.

    You can try reporting the pro on their profile, but as @LadyVel said, you both broke the rules here and there's not much CC can do to help you get your money back since they have no record of your transaction. Always, always book through the site to and keep as much communication as possible on site as well in order to protect both you and the pro.

    Best you can try to do is keep trying to communicate with the pro, see if they'll credit the deposit towards a future cuddle. Or if that is a lost cause, you can try filing a dispute with your bank/credit card company, but depending on the method you used to send the deposit it's unlikely to work. There's also an option to file a police report, but if you don't have the pro's legal name and/or if the monetary value is under a certain amount they're unlikely to pursue it unless this pro has been targeting a lot of people in your area.

    I'm sorry this isn't likely much help 😔 getting scammed always sucks.

    Just to add, though the whole situation sounds sketchy to begin with, not following the TOS, etc Because keeping interactions on the site is your protection…
    IMO I would be very cautious with your $$ and dealing with Pros, - especially new ones to the site, who you haven’t met before in person & built some kind of friendship and trust. But that’s just me.
    (I’m not that trusting.)
    There are many Pros here who have lots of experience, some of them do charge deposits, but they are very serious about cuddling and a lot of them have training. And don’t pay a deposit or any money unless you feel very comfortable with this.

    TLDR You weren’t careful and you got burned.

    The pro should have sent the booking confirmation on the site (or asked you to), even if you were the one that initiated it off-site. It is rule-breaking from both of you, but it’s much more on the pro to make sure the booking is logged. This is one of the main reasons why clients need to send their booking on the site because as it was said already, we have no record of the booking to take action on. You can still report them as that is fee avoidance on their part.

    I would also dispute the charge with your credit card (or bank if debit card). Venmo, CashApp, etc...will always try to say that "transaction cannot be reversed" but they can. I've done it (not for cuddling, but other scam on Facebook Marketplace)

    Don't use Zelle under any circumstance unless it is a close family member/friend since that is treated almost like a wire transfer and cannot be reversed and/or disputed.
