This local dive bar called The Nick used to do heavy metal karaoke night . Mostly the standard radio friendly and 80s and 90s stuff like Pantera , ACDC, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Type O Negative etc. But sometimes they would do some heavier stuff like Hatebreed or Cannibal Corpse or Sepultura.

  • [Deleted User]Fematheist (deleted user)

@pmvines ~ DIVE BARS ARE SOOOO FUN!!! lolol Not that I would know for sure, of course... :)
You ought to see the faces of some of the bar folks when I go to singing Metallica!!! Priceless!!! lol Do they have good, stiff drinks? Were the patrons willing to participate? When you say "dive bar" do you mean billiard table/darts/ illegal gambling machines "dive bar"? lol Sounds like you're going to have to host me if my karaoke tour ever comes to your area!!! :)

@VitaminJ ~ Did you get "Love Shack" stuck in my head on purpose?? lol

    @Sheena123 ~ Thank ye!!

                                                              MORE SONGS!!

    @Fematheist
Yeah, they thought it was hilarious when I'd turn an Iron Maiden or Judas Priest tune into a deathcore song but really that's all I know to do . I can make a pit bull piss itself but can't carry a tune to save my life

  • [Deleted User]Fematheist (deleted user)

@pmvines~ THAT SOUNDS WONDERFUL!!! You probably wouldn't have to carry a tune in order to do that!!! lolol I'll bet the crowd actually enjoyed your "take" on those songs! lol There's something about growling, howling, barking, and screaming that just reallllllly does me a world of good. Did I say that out loud? hahahaha

@Sheena123 ~ THAT WAS FIRE!!! Thank you!!!! I now have a favorited channel!!!! As a fellow Karaoke-r<<, I SALUTE YOU!!! :)

  • @Fematheist thank you 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I really appreciate that you took the time to listen 😻

  • Love to sing a song off key.
    How your remind me Nickelback
Anything neil diamond because I sound just like him when I sing.
    Ooh child 5 stairsteps
    Oh girl the chi lutes
Dock of the bay, we are the world, brickouse, kiss from a rose, listen to the window blow, sweet home Alabama, space cowboy, f the police, this is how we do it, raindrops keep falling on my head, my way, superbad, all the rick james songs, duke of earl, anything julio Iglesias, danza kuduro, sing a song etc, etc so so many.
When I used sing on the karoake circuit several years ago I would take a spray bottle with me and a bar of soap.
When I walked in I would go and sign up for a few songs and wait until it was my turn.

When my name was called, I would walk up to the microphone and spray some water on my face and hair, take the soap out my pocket amd drop it on the floor, go down to pick it up, close my eyes and rise up just in time to start yhe first verse and hit that first note like a karoake savant of perfection. After that it went all downhill because of my dyslexia.

Imagine loving to sing karoake but being severely farsighted on top of everything else too. Its a tragic story, but it wont stop me.

  • [Deleted User]Fematheist (deleted user)

@Sheena123 ~ Oh, I ain't done with you, yet!!! There's something about watching (and hearing) a singer put her/his own "spin" on songs that gives me all of the joy and excitement of being at a real concert!!! I now have access to a playlist of many, many of my FAVORITE songs!!! With a singer I've waited to see for quite a while!!!! AMPED!!! :)

@ScroogeMcducky ~ Really??? Your song selection GOES EVERYWHERE!!! From Neil Diamond to Seal to the infamous Rick James, and everything in between!!! When @Vitaminj listed a range from Bon Jovi to Sir Mixxalot, I damned near fainted!!! THIS IS WONDERFUL!!! I am grateful, however, that you will NOT allow either dyslexia, farsightedness, or anything else to stop your music! It does awesome things for our Souls, doesn't it??

Surely, surely there are others of us, here, who have known the joy and excitement of karaoke??? MORE SONGS, please? :)

  • @Fematheist music is wonderful. I agree 110%

  • [Deleted User]Fematheist (deleted user)

@ScroogeMcducky ~ Thanks for chiming in here! I'm really surprised that there don't seem to be more Karaoke-ers<< here!!

But yes, music IS wonderful! I once sang "Simple Man," at a small dive bar and, once I'd finished, a young man came up to me with tears in his eyes. He thanked me for singing his recently-passed dad's favorite song. I got SPONGE BOB TEARS, immediately!!! We held hands for a brief moment, then he wandered away into the crowd. Music can touch us in sooooo many ways..

Thanks for acknowledging that... And for sharing your Playlist! :)

  • I've been doing karaoke since 2000 so have a little over 1000 songs I've done. I get bored singing the same stuff over and over, and prefer to sing stuff others don't usually sing, but some of my "high repeat" songs are:

    Young Americans - Bowie
Over The Rainbow - Israel kamakawiwo'ole
    Silent Lucidity - Queensryche
    Tom Sawyer - Rush
Father and Son - Cat Stevens
    Radio Gaga - Queen
    Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright
    War Pigs - Black Sabbath
Flesh Failures/Let the Sunshine In - Hair
Scenes From an Italian Restaurant - Billy Joel

  • [Deleted User]Fematheist (deleted user)

Whew--- Seriously??? That's a LOT of songs!!! I like to add in a new one, occasionally, but I don't think I'll ever catch up to that level!! It's cool when you sing stuff others usually don't because you still get to see the look of surprise and joy on the faces of some audience members! Thanks for chiming in!

By the way, LOVE the screen name! :)

  • [Deleted User]donhulio (deleted user)

I pretty rarely do karaoke, but... Whiskey Lullaby (Brad Paisley, Allison Kraus) is one that I loved doing. Also on my list that would be fun are:

    Picture (Kid Rock, Cheryl Crow)
I Told You So (Randy Travis, Carrie Underwood)
It's Your Love (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill)
I Need You (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill)
Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not (Thompson Square)
You and Tequila (Kenny Chesney, Grace Potter)
Chasing After You (Ryan Hurd, Maren Morris)
Never Say Never (Cole Swindell, Lainey Wilson)
Can't Break Up Now (Old Dominion, Megan Moroney)
Think of You (Chris Young, Casadee Pope)
I Hope You're Happy Now (Carly Pearce, Lee Brice)
Just A Fool (Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton)

(If anyone here knows these songs and knows the talented vocals on some of these songs, you know there are some on here that I have NO CHANCE of doing justice.)

Here's a playlist with these and more good country duets: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0XwQ97irRRq1QvpYxKleqJ?si=8c2c9374c754414a

  • [Deleted User]donhulio (deleted user)

Also, I forgot to mention that I tend to think of duets when I think of karaoke. Always thought that was the most fun :D

La lalala la la la....La lalala la la laaaaah!!! I LOVE that song!! :)
@donhulio ~ Sadly, my range is nowhere near yours, but that one song, "It's Your Love," just sends me!!! I'm usually ALL DIVA, but every once in a while, someone graces me with sharing a duet. I would LOVE to do "When I Said 'I Do'," and "If This World Were Mine," but like you mention, I'd have NO CHANCE of doing EITHER of these any justice.... That wouldn't keep me from trying, though! lol

Brief re-direct: How about we share some songs we'd LIKE to do, even if we KNOW we'd screech our way through them-- like if I were to even TRY singing ANYTHING by Whitney Houston???? :)

  • Sounds like there are some pretty talented people here on this thread. I make up for my lack of talent with lack of shame lol. And general enthusiasm.

I just took a trip of a lifetime with a group of women from my yoga studio that I had never met before. We al became good friends but one thing I noticed…every single situation we were in, a song would pop in my head and before I knew it I would be bursting into song. And NO ONE would join in with me. What’s up with that??? They would just look at me and say things like “You’re so unique or fun or special lol.” Oh well I have memories of riding a camel through the desert with “riders on the storm” and “rock the casbah” as my sound track and they have silent camel memories haha. Showed them.

And @donhulio loved Duets. Love the Cruisin’ song they remade.
@Fematheist thanks for starting this thread! You are really good at encouragement and positivity!
@Vocalist100 and @ScroogeMcducky loved reading your lists and stories and visualizing those songs and faux shower situations!

  • John Cage's 4'33:

    No I'm not serious

  • [Deleted User]Fematheist (deleted user)

Hi, @VitaminJ ~ " I make up for my lack of talent with lack of shame lol. And general enthusiasm." This CRACKED ME UP!!! lololol!!! "Showed them.." Those darned camel-less riders!!! lololol!!! Thank you for your kind words! :)

In recent years, I've discovered that karaoke does for me what others claim meditation does for them. I, too, am glad I started this thread, but I'll admit that I thought there would be more of us around, on a site with this many members..

Either way, there's a karaoke night I found out about that's happening this Friday, and I CAN'T WAIT TO GO!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!

With allllll of the delightful songs listed here (that jog my musical memory), I'm SURE it'll be a night to remember!!! :)

  • Bohemian Rhapsody- and yes I sing the entire song plus ad libs 😂

  • [Deleted User]Fematheist (deleted user)

@Tigerlilly32 ~ Now THAT would be a joy to see!!! Do you find that the audience jumps right in to sing with you?? That song seems like it would be HARD to get through--- so, I'm raising my bourbon glass to you! :)
