Favorite music genre and why?

I'll start, mine currently is kpop- at first I thought it just sounded like noise(beings I don't know korean or any other Asian language). But once I put closed captioning In English and know now what they are saying total game changer. And they definitely have some of the most beautiful vocals I've ever heard. Kinda found it to be quiet addictive. If you Like kpop let me know your favorite group and your bias. If not let me know your favorite genre and favorite singer/group/band. And why you love it so much. This is a pic of My favorite group lol feel free to share yours.

  • I don't particularly have a favorite band. I got between genres however tend to more so gravitate towards the heavier stuff .
My favorite vocalist however is Dax Riggs because of his range . He can go from doing stuff like this

To this and make it sound effortless

  • This guy is my favorite

  • 50s and 60s jazz. I would have loved going to jazz clubs in Los Angeles. Chicago, Kansas City and my home here in NYC and heard the live sweet sounds of Coltrane, Miles, Bill Evans, Art Pepper and Chet Baker. Yes ... I am old.

  • Heavy metal. It's a good, full-spectrum sound that fully engages me. The patterns tend to be complex, and there's a lot of pattern breaks (eg, the drumming between sections of the song). I dislike unvaried repetition, so that keeps me engaged.

And you could learn a lot by listening to certain bands. Iron Maiden has a lot of history, literature, etc, Sabaton does military history, so you can info about various battles.

Metal can combine with any other genre. Want some ragtime metal? Check out Divine Insanity. I also highly recommend Azeroth's cover of The Mummer's Dance by Loreena McKennitt (among with a few dozen other good metal covers).

  • Classical.

  • @thepoetsmeow My two favorite genres are K-pop and metalcore. Yeah… they don’t go together at all 😂. I really love K-pop though and even have a decent collection of K-pop autographs. My prized possession is my full set of Blackpink Born Pink albums. If you want to talk K-pop, shoot me a message. I’d love to hear about your favorite groups so far and maybe recommend some of mine 😃

  • Experimental. It's not my favorite but I see it as the most important. It's where all new music comes from. If I'm not listening to new music, I feel like I'm not listening to anything.

  • @Unscented_Lemon not sure if it’s up your alley or not, but Lorna Shore is my favorite metal band these days. Their lead singer, Will Ramos, is so talented. If you decide to check them out, I suggest looking up “Will Ramos To The Hellfire One Take”. That’s their most popular song, and he really shows off his abilities. Fair warning though, it’s really heavy. Not sure if you’re more into classic metal or if you like screamo too 😅

  • Officially it's Metal. I remember watching the video of Iron Maiden - Can I Play With Madness and that's started it all.

Though lately I'm getting more into Synthwave e.g The Midnight, The Motion Epic, Gunship etc

  • @BigAndCuddly27 Nah, screamo is definitely not my speed. I like classic metal, power metal, and the like. Complex melodic or high intensity stuff. Growly stuff I like sometimes. Screaming I don't like at all.

I only know a couple songs by Nothingface, but you might like Can't Wait For Violence. I like the mix of growly and clean vocals.

  • @Unscented_Lemon Fair enough! It’s not my favorite either, and to be honest I didn’t particularly like it until a couple of years ago. A lot of my co-workers are into it though, and they wore me down over time 😂. Metalcore is my favorite genre besides K-pop, and it’s much less harsh in terms of vocals which is why I prefer it. I Prevail is one of my favorites. I’ll definitely check out those suggestions you mentioned. Thanks!

  • R&B is my favorite, particularly from the 80s and 90s. I like some current R&B as well. Pop is probably my second favorite, but I also like some country and hip hop.

    @BashfulLoner ~ lol "Go-go"! Wasn't expecting that one! :)

@unsocial_bee~ I've got to second that R&B love!
I'll add to that some country, some instrumental jazz, but my current, mid-life-crisis favorite is vintage Heavy Metal!!! lol No, I'm still not sure why, but it thrills my whole soul!

I love everything from hip-hop to doo-wop, instrumental to 80's, foreign language to boy bands. Modern rock is way up there.

But the genre I have always found myself consistently loving is most notably oldies. Whether they're singing about a break-up or being cheated on, they always sound so upbeat and happy. 😄 And yes, I'll say it...I prefer The Beach Boys to The Beatles! 🌊👙🚘 (...As evidenced by the link in my signature, below.)
