What Is Important To Experience In A Cuddle Session?

I just thought I would ask what people feel is most important to experience during a cuddle session.

What are the types of things you expect out of a cuddle session?

What are your cuddling preferences?

What are your boundaries?

What do you prefer to do during a cuddle session?

I am curious to hear what everyone has to say about this. :)

    1) Types of things I expect out of a cuddle session.

    A genuine connection.

Lots of touch, particularly on my back and arms.

Learning what my cuddler likes and doing that too. Being able to give something to her makes it more enjoyable for me. (This is a giving and receiving thing!)

Conversation, which can be light or deep depending on the mood. But times of quiet are OK as well.

There's a slightly subtle aspect too. I love reaching the point where it feels like my cuddler has opened up to me; it's a bit hard to describe, but it make me feel very close to them. And is probably why I get a little clingy at the end sometimes. :)

    2) Cuddling preferences.

Mostly face to face, lying on our sides. But it's been fun trying out some other things sometimes, like her head on my chest or "mama/papa bear".

Being touched either open handed or with finger tips on my back, not too firmly or lightly, not too slow or fast, but just right! No spider touch or patting or rubbing.

There's a thing some people do with their thumb on my neck or hand that feels nice too. Small touches can be as nice as long caresses sometimes.

If the other person is comfortable with it (which everyone has been so far), being touched on my back under my shirt is my favourite thing.

Looking into each other's eyes can be awesome too.

    3) Boundaries.

All the normal ones (in the client agreement).

If something makes the other person uncomfortable, that in itself would make me uncomfortable doing it.

    4) What I prefer to do during a cuddle session.

    Just cuddle and talk!

Sometimes I'm happy to stay in one position for the whole time, but I usually change a few times.

    I'll add one more:

    5) What kind of environment I like to have while cuddling.

So far it's always been lying on a bed (apart from cinema cuddles).

Lowish light is nice, so long as I can still see their eyes.

I haven't tried music in the background; it would need to be quiet enough to still talk easily. I have tried a movie on the TV, but we were too distracted so we turned it off!

I haven't tried scents either; it would have to be just the right kind. Come to think of it, there are some flowers I'm fond of (frangipanes, ginger, roses, jasmine, port wine magnolia) -- so maybe an actual vase of flowers would be nice, rather than a candle or incense.

@DT80 That's a great list of things to keep in mind while cuddling. Thank you for sharing it. :)

@respectful I agree that conversation can make a cuddle session very special and help to establish a connection. :) You came up with a lot of great things to do during a cuddle session. I love the idea of having a vase of fresh flowers nearby! There are also those scent diffusing sticks where you put scented oil in the jar and it gets carried up by the sticks. Or sachets that are filled with scented powder. :)

  • I think the important things to experience during a cuddle session are
    feeling safe
    *feeling comfortable,
    *self control-boundary management
    *managing your own expectations
    *clear honest communication
    *being heard and respected
    *relaxation
    *be fun & playful
*being comfortable in your own skin
    * insights and introspection - so you could walk away learning something about yourself
    * sensation of different touches
    breathing-sensing it
    *giving & receiving
*focusing on cuddling-it should be the main reason your there

@happybear These are all excellent things to include in a cuddle session. Being clear, honest, and setting boundaries is very important. But it is also important to be kind, respectful, have a nice chat going, and to ask the cuddle partner what they would like out of the session. All of these things together can create a happy experience for the people involved. :)
