The boards seem fairly inactive the last week. I haven’t seen the boards this quiet in forever. What’s going on?

Personally, I prefer to hide indoors when it's hot, and go out and play when temperatures are in the 30's to 50's, but I'm typically in the minority. 🌬❄️🌧

I do like the distraction and entertainment provided by everyone here so thank you for that. And especially the controversial posts because I do learn from them ***** I like to read opposing POVs & then I will react with interest or not. It does feel so good to express an opinion don’t you think? *****I learn that there are so many people who I just don’t get at all.
It means nobody has anything to say, and folks are out and about enjoying their lives.
Enjoy the silence.
Some are afraid to post.
Sometimes silence is boring. Behave appropriately and then they won’t have anything to be afraid of.
And some people are in timeout or banned, which means less fighting.

@OhioMike I think you're right.... if people are said to be insignificant, then ugliness is easier to toss around. I'd rather chat privately with those who esteem the connections being built here I suppose.
I enjoy a good discussion ALL the time.... but there has been a lot more really hurtful words flying to and fro recently. These gifs sum up exactly how I've been feeling. I was deactivated for a bit, open up the forums and read a little while, then..... a lot of people blowing up at each other. Sort of like walking into the middle of a battlefield!
I have about 10 different drafts saved and then I come on and think...... maybe no..... maybe now is not the time
I blame @pmvines for how quiet its been here lately.
Because comments get edited by mods.
Quiet can be enjoyable. For instance, if metal health is driving you mad, you might be enjoying a quiet riot.
@SeekerInVA Don't make comments that violate TOS and then they don't get edited.
I just got back from a week-long vacay in Buena Park...so maybe everyone else left for an extended holiday, too.

@WriterGF the way they interpret the TOS is subjective. And we are all adults here. Do we really need minders?
There's a time for fun, a time for vigorous discourse, and a time for easy going connection and understanding. My life has been overfilled for 4 decades of the vigorous discourse, and I'm tired of it. I'd like to find connection and understanding, but it's pretty rare here. For me at least.
I also think it's unfair to say that there's no reason to be afraid. I often read attacks on entire groups of people here when someone from that group just tries to open up a little.
Can't argue with either of the 2 most recent posts. I wouldn't argue anyway cause I don't like arguing.

@SeekerInVA Yeah, the site does need minders. Fights on here often get vicious and personal and someone has to step in. The alternative to moderation is shutting the forums down completely.
It's a privately owned site, so of course there are going to be staff to enforce the rules. When you sign up here, you are accepting that. Since use of the forums is not mandatory to get a benefit the site, anyone who finds moderation odious is free to just ignore the whole area.
Being an adult doesn't grant you a license to do whatever you want. There are other websites with their own TOS and you can make your own and make your own rules.
@Mike403 Indeed! And if people could act like mature adults and follow simple rules of common courtesy, they would never have a single run-in with the mods. It ain't hard.
And, in all honesty, mod-bashing gets you nothing here. More often than not, you will go too far and end up suspended or banned. These people volunteer their time for free, no reason for them to take crap.

@SeekerInVA If you have an issue with how the site is run, take it to the site owners. The mods are volunteers and follow the rules set forth by the owners, and respond to flags and reports from the community. They neither make the rules, nor seek out people to persecute.
They are very careful not to take reports on people they have met in person or are friends with, so that issues are handled fairly.
And of course the enforcement is subjective...so is every encounter with a police officer or a judge.

This actually crossed my mind. I think I agree with this partially but also it’s summer and people are out doing stuff. I also think there’s been some gnarly conversations in here lately that have affected people. I was surprised recently when charliebear made his post about giving words of support to people you butt heads with, what a great opportunity that was yet only a handful of people replied. I think it’s truly sad that people can’t make be big enough to make amends with people.
I say this not as an opinion but as absolute fact; gif is pronounced “jif” and anyone that disagrees is phobic against soft G’s.
