TDS

My thoughts with the former President after he's injured from an assassination attempt.

The purpose of this thread is NOT to get into a political debate. Just best wishes for a speedy recovery.

The shooter is dead, but unfortunately, an attendee of the rally also died. I would imagine that the bullet was close to hitting Trump in the head.

It actually hit him in the upper ear. Folks, it’s one thing to disagree respectfully, but we have to remember how our words and opinions may affect others.

  • Prayers for him, the families of the victims, and for the USA. :( <3

    Edited for peace of mind.

  • What does TDS stand for here? The only meaning I'm familiar with is political and very dismissive.

I believe TDS stands for Trump Did Survive

  • Thank you for the OP's request to keep this non-political, and for commenters keeping it respectful so far.

  • Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of human life. I can't imagine the psychological trauma of being there and seeing it all happening. The footage was bad enough. Praying for a speedy recovery for all those injured in the crossfire.
Also, bravo to the (not so) secret service for neutralizing the threat so efficiently, it could've been so much worse.

I saw the video. The physical injuries may well turn out to be mild, but I would imagine that being so nearly shot is pretty discombulating irrespective of age.

  • Many years ago, my school had a shooting. Two people were killed. I know everyone was in shock. It was the year after I was there, and I can not imagine what it was like for everyone on campus. I only know the visible effects. It shakes a community.

  • It's a miracle Trump wasn't assassinated. Our country is in bad place. A person died, and two are critically injured. Horrible job by Kimberly Cheatle, director of Secret Service. Trumps team asked for more coverage, but were denied. Gunman was only 150 yards away. Also, RFK has been routinely denied secret service. Prayers for former President Trump.

I hope he recovers and is well. That is horrible that someone attempted to do that, especially since there was a casualty as a result. Regardless of any of our political positions, this is among one of the worst things that can happen right now.

  • I was born after JFK’s assignation but I vividly remember the attempt on President Reagan’s life. That incident seemed to pull our country together (for the most part) as nearly everyone unified behind the idea of condemning political violence.

Times feel very different today than in the 1980s. I am HOPING this incident will cause everyone to pause and realize how fragile life is individually and our society is collectively. I feel like yesterday our nation literally came within an inch of tipping from which there would be no coming back.

I wish a full and speedy recovery for the former President and the others injured in the attack yesterday and my condolences go out to the family of the attendee who lost their life yesterday.

  • Very surprised to see this topic, even more that it has survived beyond a few hours. Touchy subjects like these usually derail quite quickly.

There's a lot of things that went terribly wrong yesterday, and the secret service deserves no praise for the absolute miracle of Trump's survival.

Like many others, I offer my deepest sympathies (not prayers, because I'm not convinced anyone is listening to those) to the unintended victims.

One way or another, this country is never going to be the same again after yesterday. It was a turning point for many, and I hope we get through it.
