Muted account

I muted my account because I have a stupid stalker that keeps creating new accounts and booking me while also constantly trying to report me for nonexistent things…. But I was wondering if people can still see my profile. I want people to read my profile and I still want to receive messages from people I already know, but I’m tired of not trusting every single new message I get because it could him for the millionth time…..

(And for those that know of my past experience with a stalker, no it’s not him, it’s a different one now….)

  • Ugh, that sucks!!! Yes I can still see your profile, and the request to book button is showing up too.
    Virtual hugs 🤗

  • Oh thank you 👍🏻👍🏻 I’m trying to figure out how I can still talk with those I trust and already have conversations with but keep this moron from messaging me anymore. I will have to hold off from cuddles for a while. It’s a good thing I have a full time job while I’m in Canada….

Really sorry to hear that. 🫂

I can still see your profile, but you don't show up in search results. This is what is supposed to happen when you mute yourself.

  • Good. As long as he can’t message me anymore, I’m happy. I’ll lose out on meeting some amazing new people but I can’t trust it 😔

  • I can see your profile. Does Canada have cyberstalking laws? Some states in the US do not and in Florida when you are there is notoriously soft on stalking—it’s only a misdemeanor.

Yes, Muting does exactly what you're looking for:

  • Thanks guys 😩😌

  • I actually asked a mod about this same thing because I’m muted but still get so many people visiting my profile constantly.
Although we don’t show up in a search, they can click on our name when we comment in the forum - iow they can access our profiles through the forum. So in a way what’s the point of having a mute option?
I won’t be able to be cuddling for quite a while, so that’s why I did it. I would deactivate, but then I can’t access the site at all.

  • @g_w_t_w I actually want people to still see my profile because I have my blurb on there explaining why I’m muted. I get a lot of people new to me wanting to book me and I don’t want them to feel I’ve ghosted them or neglected them in some way. And I also don’t want the stupid moron stalking me to talk to me at all. Muting does both for me. People can see me but no one new can message me. That’s what I want. Plus I can still use the forum

  • @Sheena123
i totally understand your situation. I’m sorry to read that you’re dealing with a stalker. When it has happened to me, I had to block them, but if yours is creating multiple accounts, that’s pretty hard to prevent

I wish there were other options for how to be more invisible here. Even if I stop commenting on the forum, people can still find me from older posts. With muting, I believe that anyone who we’ve messaged with before can still reach us.
There are many members here who I consider friends and enjoy talking to through dm, but we’ve never met in person
I would prefer to be invisible rather than use blocking because people take that very personally & hurtful behavior.

In my case it’s about my situation - lack of availability, I won’t be able to host anymore. I won’t go to a stranger’s homes. That’s just my policy & not safe. And then I will be gone long-term and will be doing no cuddling at all.
But I really enjoy being on CC and I guess it’s pretty obvious that I love being active in the forum!

Unfortunately, muting does nothing to stop people from messaging you. They may not be able to see you in searches, but if they know your username they can navigate directly to your profile via URL.

The only way to stop unknown or random people from messaging you is to deactivate, but that turns off messaging with everyone and takes your profile offline.

The best way usually to handle these repeat offenders is:
    1. if you have not already, clearly and firmly tell them to not contact you further, then block and report. You should only do this once, and after that refrain from engaging with them further. If they create a new account, as soon as you realize who it is block and report.
    2. put preemptive checks in place to try to weed them out before you engage with them. You can put in your profile that you require a face picture be sent or some other identifying info - and then enforce it every time. Make it a hard boundary. While not foolproof, it's usually enough of a deterrent that most with ill intentions will give up rather quickly.
    3. make sure your profile is locked against public views, and likewise check that your social media profiles elsewhere are locked tight. Some particularly motivated individuals may reverse image search to try contacting you on other platforms. Every roadblock you put in place helps.
    4. no matter what, do not engage with them. Don't argue, don't tell them you're reporting them, don't ask them to leave you alone again. Block, report, and document.

This is general advice from multiple cyberstalking and domestic abuse agencies. I can speak from experience that it is by far the most effective and safest route to take. More info:

  • I can still see it, I'm sorry to hear that Sheena

  • @cuddlefaery I had a mod help me out. Thankfully, with muted accounts, he cannot message me 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  • I’m sorry you have to deal with this @Sheena123 people are so shitty!

  • @jillyain yup 😫 you tell a guy no to sending a pic of your booty, and he stalks you for 6 months…. Sounds about right….

Echo what @CuddleDuncan and @SunsetSnuggles said. Block, report those. Also site owners definitely have to take close look on newly created accounts, especially with those patterns

Glad you finally got the help from mod

  • @KoalaMale_nyc thanks 🤗 I’m glad the mods are on top of it considering he’s making a couple profiles everyday pretty well since like, February or March I think? I’ve lost count…. He’s making them work super hard. He just needs to get a life or find a healthy hobby.

    Some people are boneheads.

  • definitely!!y! I also suspect he was able to find yr profile is because the communication in the inbox he had with you If only you are able to delete those particular one, with owner's help; that would be first sep to prevent him to track you; and also he was able to find you with the URL, www cuddlecomfort.com/profile name, so second step would be change the name, then he would able to find you with the old profile name. But since @yourname had been tag thru the thread, if he is reading the forum, click it n the tagged name, he can still find you(but I guess seem you had muted, the tagged won't show up at all)

  • @KoalaMale_nyc
Changing a username doesn't prevent someone from finding a user; their old profile link forwards automatically to the one with their new username.

Muting should be perfect. You can block the guy you don't want to hear from, mute messages from random accounts, and still be able to message new people if you want to, letting them message you back. In fact the arrangement is so perfect I wonder sometimes why new female enthusiasts don't start off muted.

  • Yea I think the main thing I want is for him to not to be able to message me. So thankfully muted does that for me. Now he can’t pretend to be someone booking me for a cuddle and waste my time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
