“I've been thinking about it a lot in the shower,”

Im want to travel somewhere for a 2-3 days that is mellow, relaxing, has lovely scenery and is peaceful and quiet.
I cant figure it out so im asking the seasoned traveler's as well as inviting people who may not normally comment.
Give me some ideas on a 48-72 hour rejuvenation trip that will empower the soul...
Ill log back on in a few days and book the one idea that makes sense to me.
Thanks in advance.

@ScroogeMcducky pretty tough to find something like you already have with Denver, but looks like you are looking for a peaceful trip so I would suggest Hocking Hills in Logan Ohio.

It is a great discovery especially for out of towners who want to get away from it all! Good luck on your journey! 😊👍

  • Grand Teton National Park. You can fly into Jackson Hole (and see the Teton range as you land), or you can drive 8 and 1/2 hours to get here (the significantly cheaper option).

We have grizzly bears, moose galore, lakes shimmering under peaks that look like The Alps, hiking for days, trips down the Snake River, wildlife tours...

If you wanna throw in Yellowstone, the entrance is only forty minutes past the Teton entrance. There, we have Old Faithful (the massive geyser), wolves, bison, waterfalls, and the Grand Prismatic, which is beyond words...

  • A life changing trip for me was to drive up the California coast from San Diego to Monterey. We hit Carmel-by-the Sea and Big Sur in particular. Such an amazing, grounding, and introspective trip for me. In particular, I enjoyed going to Calla Lily Valley.

Maine…or Vermont. Beautiful and quaint at the same time. Maine has the ocean though so I give the edge to it. Acadia is a must see.

Went out for whale watching in Maine a year with my daughter. We were treated to 90 minutes of a pod of humpback whales leisurely playing including little ones. Also…lots and lots of puffins. I love puffins.

But the real treasure of Maine is that practically the entire state is a dense thick forest filled with evergreens and ferns, frequently broken up by pristine lakes. Also the place to go if lobster is your jam.

Hidden secret about Maine is it is a state with kayakers coming out of the woodwork with plenty of rivers to go on.

We opted for a cabin in the woods on a large lake as our base of operations. We could hear a frog fart it was so quiet.

Yesterday I drove down Big Thomson Road between Estes Park and Loveland, Colorado. The river is peppered with these cute little cabins for rent. Because we don’t have a lot of water here in Colorado I thought a little getaway near water would be so relaxing. However, I think these cabins are too close to the road for my liking. There’s also a nice lodge on Estes lake. I might stay there if I only had a couple of days to travel.

  • One of my best friends lives in Longmont!

All those places you guys have mentioned look from the photos and sound from the descriptions to be beautiful!

I have done the drive up the California coast but I have never heard of the Calla Lily Valley! It sounds like a 🤩 wow! Place!

Good luck to you in oicking a place @ScroogeMcducky

Utah / arches national park and dead horse point state park,
    are Also amazing -

Don’t know how long of a drive it would be for you.

If you only have 2-3 days.... Here's some ideas close-ish to you (and me too! That's why this is an easy one for me 😁):

SW South Dakota is really beautiful! The Black Hills are just gorgeous! And that's coming from a CO native 😅 Custer is a cool place and has an awesome cave you can explore. The town of Deadwood is also an awesome place and does the whole Wild West things really well ☺️

Although I do not enjoy most of WY (no offense, I just HATE wind with a passion!) If you go up north, the town of Sheridan is a fun place to hang out for a bit. Kind of reminds me of how Golden is 😎

@RumbleHoney mentioned some really pretty drives here in NOCO....but if you wanted to go a bit farther (SW of me), Maroon Bells and surrounding areas is a breathtaking getaway! Or really anywhere in that area. Estes is an amazing place, but can sometimes be busy for a small town. Worth it, tho if you don't mind. There's a place called Red Feather Lakes up this way, that's a cute small town. But one of my favorite small getaway towns is Lyons. They even have a Tiny House hotel that we've stayed at a few times with a bunch of tiny houses you can choose to stay in! 😊
I don't want to recommend too many places off the 70, tho. Since despite there being some beautiful towns along there, the 70 hwy is always crammed. But if you wanted to brave it, Idaho springs is cool and there's a decently easy hike to Hanging Lake (a little bit before you hit Glenwood springs) that is so calming and peaceful ☺️ Any of the mining towns around the West side of the state are fun to explore as well!

Hopefully you get to disappear for a few days and find somewhere that helps you feel re energized 🤗

  • Oops. I just skimmed the OP’s post and skipped right over the 2-3 day limitation. @RedFox16 is right about SW South Dakota. My daughter and I were there in May just before Memorial Day and we hiked in the Black Hills for seven days and also saw some of the usual highlights. Please note that Wind Cave is currently closed but Jewel Cave is still open. They are modernizing Wind Cave and installing a new elevator. Unless you really want to be around large crowds of people Rushmore is a low light on the list compared to the rest of the area. This was our third trip there and we skipped Rushmore completely. I agree with @RedFox16 as well on Wyoming. It was kind of underwhelming outside the parks and the parks can be crowded if you are trying to avoid crowds.

  • You live in Colorado and have legal weed, It is going to be hard to improve on that..

  • 24 states have legal recreational weed, so if that were your criteria, there's still plenty of places.

  • I appreciate it everyone. I think im.goimg to make it 3-4 days, just long enough to unwind but not long enough to worry about the kids destroying the house.
Im not smoking any weed on this trip. I need the whole mind and body relaxation experience this time around. Let all my senses be present.

@ScroogeMcducky @IronLemon I can't imagine not smoking weed on my California vacation! But as a med patient in PA, high is my normal state! I can't wait to travel and meet some new friends. Here's more about my plans and how they developed:

Less than a week to GO!!

  • Been thinking about Camus’ philosophy of how it is our responsibility to create meaning n purpose in life..

  • @zoeloveshugs chaos is the storm before the quiet. Its how the brain works through infinite perceptions to establish lifes creativity and balance.

  • Anywhere along the northan plains. S.Dakota - Black Hills, Custer, Mount Rushmore.
Wyoming -, National parks like Badlands, Jackson Hole, Teton National Park and Montana/Idaho regions.

All along there that top ridge is amazing.

  • So, what did you choose? How has it been?

  • high is my normal state!

I think it would be great if we could all agree it should be the 51st State.

    52nd. The 51st is confusion.
