French Bakery

I’m trying out a French Bakery in town that I’ve discovered (“new to me”) and I went a little crazy. Fig and Brie croissant, chocolate croissant, baguette, prosciutto and Gruyère croissant…I’ve got enough pastries to last for at least the weekend…anyone else have a passion for the French way of saturating breads with meats and cheeses and butter?

    I love food in general, so I'm always experiencing new favour's and tastes, but fresh bakery goods oh lord in heaven save me from myself, I love them. I used to bake and cook with my mom. I always loved that first slice of bread from a loaf fresh out the oven, little butter and some herbs, mmm GET IN MY MOUTH

    I had several French bakery item in Montpelier, FR several years ago. I really did not expect to enjoy France as much as I did. I had low expectations going there and was very pleasantly surprised at what a great experience it was.

    I saw a lot of historic sites in Paris (the Louvre is incredible) but I preferred the environment of Montpelier a lot more than Paris. I now understand why people rave about French food in general and pastries in particular.

    Thanks you guys for the food porn links! I’m excited as I’ll be visiting NyC in December and love sandwiches! France is on my list after watching the Olympics! Made me want to go back!

    I’m on a mission to get an authentic Parisian Croissant 🥐 in Houston. I didn’t know it would be this hard. I’ve been trying for the last 6 months and tried dozens of bakeries.

    None so far comes close. Tried a “French” bakery today and still wasn’t satisfied.

    NYC has some bakeries (in the Jewish area) that has very decent croissants.🥐

    NYC has great bakeries all over the place. Yea I think your quest will end up taking you to Paris.....it's something in the air, don't you think

    Great thread! I LOVE French pastries! There's a French restaurant here and they make some A-mah-zing pastries and macarons! 🗼😋🤤🍰

    We ate so many when we went to Paris last year 🤣🤣

    I’m not the biggest sweet tooth, but I do love a buttery croissant or chocolate filled croissant. I also tend to try multiple bakeries in my area to see which one has the tastiest one

    For all the complex pastries out there, Honestly though, I think it’s hard to beat a simple homemade bread with butter. It’s somehow amazingly good

    Love food, love pastries and bakeries. There’s a lot of great Mexican bakeries here in LA. A nice warm concha with a piping hot cup of champurrado, oh yea.

    I’ve had a ton of amazing French pastries over here in Edinburgh! Pain chocolate always wins out for me. In America it seems sweets are everywhere but they are mass produced and not of the same quality as a good bakery!

    Now I am on to check out the bakery scene in Dublin lol. And the beer scene. Hopefully I won’t be forced to choose.

    @Tigerlilly32 where all have you tried? I'm a fan of the croissant but never been to France for an authentic one. What part of Houston?
