Pro Cuddler Cancellations

edited August 2024 in General

Just wanted to share an experience that has repeated 3 separate times with Pro Cuddlers. For context, these are situations where I have booked and paid for hotels for hosting of scheduled sessions. For emphasis, the cuddlers have agreed to the date, time, and place ahead of time.

I have had 3 separate instances where I've incurred the cost of a room for cuddling sessions and have been cancelled on the day of and within hours of the session. I understand that things happen, notice can be short, and we are unable to control many circumstances that occur. I have no problem with that and have always been cordial in accepting the cancellation.

I have also been responsible for late, or in one instance, a last minute cancellation when a Pro Cuddler was already in the parking lot. In that instance, I paid 450 to her for 2 hours and a travel fee. So I made up for it and the Pro Cuddler was not out a single dime for the inconvenience to her. I try to be as reasonable as I can with the time and expenses of others.

My issues is that when I've been cancelled on, after reserving a room, taking time from work, and being there ahead of time to ensure the room is in order, I've never received more than an apology. If Pro Cuddlers are truly professionals, why don't they offer to rectify the matter with a future credit or discount in consideration of time and money lost?

Am I the only one that believes that would be the action of a true professional?

    Since pros are not employees of this site, I don't know that the site could mandate refunds. They have guidelines regarding cancellation that suggest that if a pro cancels within a given time, they should offer a discount on a future session.

    You also have to be aware that the word "professional" only means they get paid to do this. That's it. It's no guarantee of "professional behavior."

    Did these pros have any karma? And remember that you have the option to leave negative karma should you choose to do so.

  • This is one of the problems of trying to monetize a site of what used to be mostly enthusiasts.

    I don't think you should expect a refund, but I absolutely think that - in most situations - a pro should offer a discount on the next session if they cancelled last minute when the client already booked and paid for a hotel room. The only time I wouldn't is if the client started giving off bad vibes, like pushing boundaries or suggesting non-platonic activities as the session approached.

    @WriterGF
    Thanks for your response. I've previously considered all you've mentioned and can confirm that all 3 have good karma. I prefer not to leave a negative review because I don't want to impact their earning potential. I would only leave bad Karma if the cuddler provided a bad experience during a session. Like I said, I understand these things happen and don't consider it an indication of how their cuddling sessions go. I would hate to leave bad Karma because I have a different opinion on how they should handle the cancellation.

    @SeekerInVA True. But without pros, it could be argued there would no longer be a site.

  • @bekah_cuddles nothing like that ever happened. In fact, I've seen them all since and we have ongoing cuddler "friendships".

  • @CuddlerSeeking I wasn't trying to imply that it had. As a pro, I was only trying to think of a situation where I wouldn't offer a discount given that situation.

  • The ONLY time I've canceled on a client who paid for a room in advance was when I learned of his abysmal behavior towards another pro. I had to do A LOT of digging because he was hiding it very, very well. I smelled something fishy when he ran circles around my questions. (Confirming sus activity with mods about certain accounts and people is becoming my new go to, unfortunately.)

    I wasn't comfortable knowing this information and having a session with him. For my own personal safety, I wasn't going to spend hours with him alone in a room. I informed him of the information I found and proof of it, then told him of my cancellation. His response was less than favorable, but that's on him for acting like an asshole. In this instance I did not reimburse. I made time for this session and was 100% planning to go until I found out the information that would put my safety in jeopardy.

    In no way, shape or form am I saying this is what's going on with you, in your thread. There are however, very valid reasons why cuddlers cancel. My advice if you're wanting to spend $450+ and a hotel would be to book a cuddler with a good chunk of Karma (10+), have a decent amount of communication before the cuddle and make sure your deposits and whatever else they require are handled before-hand. Perhaps a park session that evolves into a hotel session or a short video session might even be helpful to get the vibe of each other. Also, (again, not saying this is your situation AT ALL) don't assault pros and try to hide it lol. We'll find out~

    To your question, if it's a case of cold feet, or w/e, absolutely the pro should reimburse.

  • @CuddlerSeeking
    I've had this problem SOOO much with clients and 99% of the time no compensation. For me I have to have a babysitter come over if it's night time, schedule and work around my regular job and the amount of clients who cancel last min is insane. On the rare occasion I've had to cancel a session last min I think the pro should definitely offer a discount or compensation which is what I do. It's so frustrating so I feel your pain and apologize for the "pros" who do that

  • @bekah_cuddles
    I understand you weren't implying and I appreciate your input. I was just using your examples to add context.

    @OliveGreen
    I'm so sorry you went through that. It sounds traumatic. I would definitely say you were perfectly fair in walking away and telling him what you found. As for your suggestions, I appreciate them, but in all of these cases I was already a repeat cuddler with them, had established rapport and trust, and have continued to see them since.

    @KatZs87
    Thanks for your input and sharing your experiences on the other side. That's exactly why the one time I cancelled day of and shortly before our session, I paid the Pro in full. She was more than happy to reschedule and see me multiple times in the future.

  • I use dayuse.com to book hotels for cuddling.

    Good discount rates and free cancellation including the day of stay.

    I rarely check in on a first time cuddle until I have confirmed from the pro that she is on her way.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

    I'm confused. You were upset enough about only getting an apology and unprofessional behavior to post about it, but you're still seeing them professionally?

  • If you booked through the site, your best recourse is to leave negative karma. Any pro worth their salt in this situation will offer a discount a future session. As suggested above, dayuse.com is the way to book for this situation. That way you aren’t on the hook till you check in.

  • [Deleted User]gem7 (deleted user)

    @WriterGF I was confused about the scenario also. WTF

  • If I had to cancel last minute and it was on me, I would offer some type of discount on a future session. Luckily it has not come up but I have had plenty of clients cancel on me.

    If a Client does not confirm where we are meeting before I start driving, I do cancel in those situations though.

    @RadiantHugs

    I live in a city that is a vacation destination, particularly in summer. Dayuse rates are typically equal to booking a day in a hotel nearer to home. Dayuse in my town is typically limited to the resort style hotels or the ones in the hip neighborhoods so there is usually no cost savings.

  • @WriterGF
    @gem7
    1. I don't rate a person on a single experience
    2. All 3 cuddlers were ones I had prior experience with and an established cuddle relationship.
    3. It's not so much that I'm upset, I'm just inquiring on the standard and expectations for a future session. Many people are suggesting a discount is in order. If I didn't see them again, how would I get the discount?

  • @RadiantHugs
    Ah. I understand what you're saying now about the advantage with dayuse being the ability to cancel.

  • That's terrible. No matter what the reason I had to cancel, I would be offering to reimburse at least half. If I was a Pro (I'm not) I would be offering that plus a credit off cuddling. Really sorry that's happened to you especially multiple times !

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

    @CuddlerSeeking Sorry, but the last two paragraphs of your initial post don't sound like someone who isn't upset. You're essentially saying these people you are still cuddling with did not behave like "true professionals."

  • How are you choosing your cuddlers? That's a really bad streak, especially considering the hotel expense. It would take a catastrophe for me to cancel under those circumstances. Unless I start catching a vibe...

  • We’re suppose to offer credit for the next session if we cancel. It’s in the client agreement under cancellation policy.

  • If I’m understanding correctly, you booked the hotel strictly for the session. And, if so, did you share that information with the pros? Most professional cuddles will offer a discount on a future session if it was their fault. However, like you said, what if you are not planning on seeing them again? In that case, I’m not sure there’s much that can be done. But since it has already happened to you in 3 separate occasions, I would suggest you discuss a type of cancellation policy /expectation or agreement between you and the pro during the booking arrangement, that way you both know what to expect.

    You also have to be aware that the word "professional" only means they get paid to do this. That's it. It's no guarantee of "professional behavior."

    Paid Cuddlers. that's it.

    I prefer not to leave a negative review because I don't want to impact their earning potential.

    They cost you money, cost them money. Tho my experience is that about half of the negative karmas somehow end up disappearing.

    I got ghosted once after a booking. she didn't even bother to cancel.... I also had a pro cancelling a confirmed booking with a half @$$ reason provided only after I inquired. There were no financial damages in either case and I always have a plan B (which was activated with great success in one of those cases).

    Advise to men: Do not book the room until she shows up. Then Walk over to the front desk and book. Do not even start travelling to the destination unless you confirm she is on the way (if possible) This is now how I will be operating going forward. If she insists on a room number, the numerical value of TBD is 26. Though there shouldn't be any reason to.
    My experience is that if you have a few decent Karmas, you can also negotiate the deposit.

    Both sides ghost and flake. A pro I recently met got ghosted out of almost 10 hours total in one day between two "clients".

    I was also half seriously considering the idea of a client with a good reputation and a decent amount of Karma insisting on a deposit from the pro. Yes, you read it right and no I'm not on something. for example: To schedule a 3-hour session for a total of $300, the client will charge the pro $50.00 deposit to secure the meetup and when she shows up, she gets paid $350.00. if she doesn't show up, he keeps the $50.00 and of course he has the option to offer it back if /when she ever does manage to schedule and show up to another cuddle session. It may seem like a hard sell to say the least but still slightly less barely-remotely-possible if you try to justify it by the fact that you will have (or already have incurred) financial expenses in advance in order to facilitate the session. it seems like a dream (or a nightmare) now, but you never know. The first client that can pull this off should be celebrated.

  • Idk about others but I always give a discount towards a future session, if an emergency comes up.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

    @Sooson Not to speak for the OP, but given that he wanted to continue to see those cuddlers, I am guessing that is part of the reason he didn't leave negative karma. That would likely have effectively severed the working relationship. Most of the time when you see people post topics like this, they want nothing more to do with the pros in question, but that's not the case here.

  • If this was a big deal to me, I would just stick with pros who could host.

  • @WriterGF I was responding directly to what I quoited but then read more. yea but still, between San Diego and LA he's got tons of options so can potentially still nicely imply to the lady to either take care of him next time of buzz off. but we don't know how good of a relationship he established with them prior and if they are valuable enough to him for him to let it go. We can go back and forth forever discussing this, but you pretty much already nailed it. The vast majority of them are not professionals and don't act professional. Just everyday people that decided to partake in the opportunity to monetize the demand and nothing wrong with that. I'm actually grateful for that. I prefer dealing with non-professions because the connections and the interactions feel more genuine but there are also down sides to that.

  • @WriterGF
    You appear to have attached a sentiment or degree of sentiment that I did not to these experiences. I would say I'm bewildered, not upset. A professional is someone who practices a trade or provides a service in exchange for payment and I do have, perhaps an unrealistic, expectation that they behave "professionally". That's not to say they cannot cancel, only that a reciprocity be offered in event of an unplanned cancellation.

    @Ineedahugortwo
    I always make very clear that I will be booking a hotel for the purposes of hosting prior to confirming the time and date.

    I appreciate all of the advice that you have all provided and will take it into consideration when planning future sessions.

  • Im sorry that has happened, but the client reimbursed me my travel fees. As a pro, if I was in that scenario … at the very least, I would be offering free time to add onto a rescheduled session. And it would have had to have been a really good reason, like an absolute emergency, for me to have to cancel last minute. Another good site besides DayUse, that I actually like better, is DayBreakHotel.
