Any Cosplayers out there?

I recently went two days to my local Ren Fair and dressed as a tavern wench. It was so much fun, especially seeing how into character people got and the amount of love and detail went into their costumes. Mine was a simple one from Amazon but I was still so happy to have dressed up.

I’d love to see pictures of any others! Whether it be for a ren fair, or a anime expo, or something like C2E2 in Chicago!

    I have a very high quality Jedi costume complete with a movie prop grade light saber. I also have pirate costume. I have worn them both to DragonCon a couple of times.

    A few years ago I met Tom Smith at DragonCon when he was performing this song live. A fitting song for many Cosplayers.

    I wish I could comment on people’s comments but my first convention was Dragoncon last weekend and I loved it! I wish I had gotten a full body picture. I went to a Ren Fair last year and had a nice time as well. @JessArt88 im looking for the black storm cosplay she wore in X-men 97 but I haven’t found it yet

    So I'm just starting to get into the cosplay stuff myself, a lot of my customers cosplay, and come to me to make props for them. I have an event in November I'm looking forward to, and possibly a second event, I also was hired as personal security a few times by a few girls who do cosplay, a lot of creeps and weirdos at those things. I'm currently in the early stages of a horror cosplay I've been wanting to do for a long time.
    It's pretty impressive to see what people can come up with all on their own I love it. Even if you aren't into it, it still worth going to an event, just to see sone awesome stuff.

    For me, cosplay is like dancing...I love being a viewer, but you would have to get me very drunk, be Prince Charming, or do a lot of liposuction before I would be caught doing it, myself. 😆

    I adore a lot of the eras that cosplayers do, and the make-up is glorious... But I would just feel like a complete fool, attempting it, myself.

    The closest I've gotten is wearing a mask (with normal clothes) at the Renaissance Festival:

    My parents were against Halloween, so I've only actually dressed up for that once, in 2020, as a pirate (stock photo):

    The costume came with a bandana, but I went out and bought a Jack Sparrow hat. Ya have to...

    @TeddyCuddle45 what types of things do you make? I’ve learned that I am not talented which makes me all the more willing to support the businesses of those that are! 😂

    Also - so appreciate your willingness to be security! Unfortunately there is a very dark side to the cosplay culture as there are for most others.

    I dress up as a Chippendale’s dancer. I know, I know…I carry around a handkerchief to wipe away the drool from the ladies’ mouths. But this is why I rarely do it anymore. The drool from them laughing so hard is a Highway to disease or sickness.

    @VaniRae31 well I made a dagger and some jewelry type thing for a guy, he ended coming back for another dagger, I printed some skulls for someone yesterday night, it's usually just the smaller odds and ends that I do. I just like helping people out, also I'm sure you are talented. We all have something.
    Well someone asks for help, I'm not gonna say no. Some people take it too far and can't separate fantasy from reality.
    I was actually surprised, I figures something like that everyone was super chill, I was wrong sadly.

    I did few cosplay. I always find it fun to play with make up and become somebody else.

    I honestly would love to cosplay. I have always imagined being in full costume at an event. Im thinking I could pull of some good costumes that involve tall statures. I end up giving up on the idea though because I don't want to half ass it and be standing next to someone who has honed their skills at making the awesome outfits we all see.

    I looove to cosplay. I initially started during covid mostly just live streaming my looks. But I finnaly went to my fist convention this year(Momocon) and it was amazing

    @team_cuddle you have to start somewhere! I say just do it, unless you have a 3D printer or amazing at sewing already the cosplay is going to look homemade at first and honestly there’s nothing wrong with that! If you go to cons yearly I promise you people will love to see the progression of your cosplay skills over time. You’re journey will become a part of the cosplay experience for others! Plus it’s a great way to kick up a conversation with other cosplayers, asking them about their technique and asking how long they’ve been doing it.

    @CocoKranz yes! I love how makeup can be another (fun) layer to making a cosplay come to life! Your looks are awesome!

    @TeddyCuddle45 Thats so nice of you! Honestly those odds and ends are sometimes exactly what’s needed to tie a cosplay together or to really give it that finished look.

    I don't see any correlation. They choose which characters to portray.

    That said, as the duplicate thread went down a similar road, I'll certainly give you that lots of women do cosplay to get physical attention. Whether those types of women are here or not, well, I think we can tell from the pictures which are which.

    Back to outfit requests...some say this in earnest. Some say it as reverse advertising, from what I've been told. By saying it at all, they're actually trying to let guys know it's a thing and then will upcharge for it. 😒

    In my opinion - I really don’t think it’s all that strange. I feel like there is a difference between a person choosing to dress up for a cosplay in a very specific setting (ex: ren fair or a convention where such things are the norm) and another person thinking they should be able to request what a professional wears while cuddling.

    By nature cuddling is already very intimate but it should also be comfortable for both parties and purely platonic. However, once you introduce outfit requests it may begin to feel a little/lot less so for some.

    Also, just because some pros choose not to accept outfit requests it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be allowed to share a hobby, which cosplay is, as long as what’s shared still fits CC guidelines at least.
    And I definitely don’t think they should be shamed for it.

    But again this is all just my opinion and I hope people continue to share their cosplays. It’s a super fun and expressive community and I love to see how people take well loved characters and make them their own, or just to see people dressed up and happy. 🥰❤️

    One thing about conventions is there's typically a strong consent culture there. And it's usually strongly reinforced that "costumes are not consent". You don't get to touch without consent. You don't get to take pictures without consent. And sexual harassment, including lewd comments, will get you kicked out. So it's a safe place to not have to hide your body, without worry that you're not going to get harassed or assaulted.

    To bring it back to cuddling, it sadly does not appear that cuddling has anywhere near as strong of a consent culture.
