I would lose my mind though to have seen Charlie “Bird” Parker. His grave is a couple miles from the high school I attended. Yes the same guy as the movie “Bird”.
@TheFunCartel I am sure he played there in KC many times. The American Jazz Museum is a great venue to visit along with the Negro Baseball Museum. I bet that area was jumpin in the day.

@gem7 Well yeah he played here. He was born and grew up here. You can feel what he was feeling in his music. Several of his colleagues said he practiced 12-15 hours a day.

Sixto Rodriguez. He wasn't very popular in the US but gained notoriety abroad. At the time he was considered very edgy because of the subject matter of his songs. A movie "Sugarman" about him is worth a watch.
