On average, do men or women have more self control over primal urges/instincts?

Conventional wisdom would say that, on average men have less control over their impulses/instincts than women. I actually think its exactly the opposite. What is your opinion? Any interesting examples?

  • Men must exercise more restraint in controlling their inner caveman.

  • Some of the most modest / innocent looking woman out there are freaks of nature. LOL examples? I think I will pass on that part.

    I agree

I would have to say men have less control based on the percentages of sexual abuse committed by men. As far as personal pleasure, both men and women have access to about the same amount of adult toys, but men have more male enhancement supply/drugs, and procedures. Another thing to consider that I forgot to add is men are much more likely to pay for sexual gratification than women are.

My instinct tells me that men have less control over physical/sexual matters but women have less control over emotions and impulses. Then again I have not been a woman in this lifetime.

  • This question is pretty interesting.
I think about it in a nature v. nurture context.

If you have kids or have seen children in those terrible 2 and 3 stages the first thing you will notice is girls will want to get their way and throw a tantrum the same way boys do. The difference is what is the tantrum about.

So to answer and using nature, no there is not impulsive difference.

But the nurture, lol, hell to the yea yea yea.. Instincts are deconstructed and reconstructed. Most societies teach woman to be more docile and dainty due to the adam and eve implication. While men are to be more fierce and controlling.
So as soon as a child becomes aware of the world and environment they are in they are push, pulled or kicked into the roles society has been perfecting for thousands of years.

If they choose not to participate or wake up to the nonsense and become more natural in thought, they are subjected to becoming societal outkasts ( I like to spell it that way) or like salmon swimmers against the constructed flow of society, which is really them swimming with the unique flow of their being.

My take and my opinion. No on impulse, yes on instinct.

  • @JohnR1972 So where should I set the over / under this time. I nailed it with "Platonic?" . Oh and thanks for the popcorn!!

These kinds of topics never end well ...

  • Well… considering a lot of morgues don’t hire men, I think it’s obvious…

  • Considering the premise and purpose of the site is for platonic purposes I seriously question the reasoning behind your question

  • @TxTom didn't realize what?

  • 😁 context is everything,

  • I said “a lot of morgues”….. I didn’t say all morgues. But the fact that statistically, necrophilia is higher in men as opposed to women still says something, no?….. most serial killers and rapists are men, and most cases in necrophilia are by men and the fact that even SOME morgues have stated that they need to hire women because the men would take advantage of the female corpses says everything…

Historically speaking, most families spread across the globe had to keep their female family members at home for weeks after they’ve passed on so that they could decompose enough to ensure that their bodies weren’t “used” by the men in the area. And plenty of other cases have shown that wealthier families had to create actual metal bars and cages around their female family members at graves because their bodies would be dug up and used….

(Why was Marilyn Monroe missing for HOURS after she passed away hmm?)

Look, whether you like it or not, you asked….

  • @Sheena123

...most cases in necrophilia are by men...

    I believe it.

Even in Hollywood, a couple of movies (somewhat) popularized it.

  • From the FBI:

91% of sex crimes victims are female.

94% of sex crime offenders are male.

This was a thread that should never have existed with a simple online search. Obviously men have more of an issue with control whether it turns into a crime or not.

  • Ok that was a hell (literally) of a history lesson.. wow. I appreciate it. And I also wonder what is the purpose of this thread. Interesting topic but kinda belongs more on Reddit than over here.

  • @Sheena123 Those are examples of extreme outliers. Statistically you are about as likely to get struck by lightning twice as to encounter any of those types of men in your life. If we are talking specifically about sane men and women (of which are the vast majority of people) I think it's more common to find examples of less impulse control in women than in men.

  • This thread also goes into other areas by the nature of its subject—how many men here are bombarded by unsolicited naughty parts photos from women? Women how many unsolicited d&*k pics do you get?

  • Dude coming in with facts. I love it.

As long as we’re just airing hot takes to start arguments, I don’t like the Harry Potter books or movies.

But I’m a fake subject matter expert, and I would assume that it’s not as much about impulse control as it is about what types of impulses are more likely to be held by men than women and vice versa.

  • Facts or not I did not think that it was OPs intents to discuss people failing to control their impulses to the extent of committing a crime. And my responses were accordingly.

@TheFunCartel and by the way i know for a fact that there are men out there who have received more such pictures than they have sent and I wont be suprised if you are one of them. Speaking in general of course, not CC specifically

  • @JSP_1 I’ve argued this before but you seem new so I’ll just say that as a woman who is bisexual, I’m able to control myself and my impulses around everyone. Literally look at statistics….
As an example: why are there women’s only gyms or women’s only sections in gyms??

Every single woman I know has been sexually assaulted by a man, and only a very very small handful of men have been sexually assaulted by women. Period…

If you want to ignore statistics to make yourself feel better, fine.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

    @JSP_1 Two questions:

    1) Please define what you mean by "impulse control."
    2) If you already believe you know the answer, why ask the question? Are you just looking for people to agree with you?

  • It depends on what you think are primal instincts and the impact of them. The result really affects how you see instinct.

  • @Sooson exactly @WriterGF don't care if people agree or not, just want to hear opinions on the topic

  • I did not think that it was OPs intents to discuss people failing to control their impulses to the extent of committing a crime.

That was not my intent either but crimes are a reflection of impulse control. Some men are just better at knowing where the legal line is.

But I would definitely say I would worry more about cuddling a man than a woman. For every woman that lacks control I would venture there are at least 100 men that also lack control.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

@JSP_1 If someone made a good argument that the answer is men, are you open to changing your mind?

  • "Conventional wisdom would say that, on average men have less control over their impulses/instincts than women. I actually think its exactly the opposite. What is your opinion? Any interesting examples?"

You go first, since you are setting this very fragile undefined thread.

What does primal urge control "Opinions" without context of "impulse control" nor examples have to do with your cuddling?

My opinion of your topic is not one I will review with you.

But I would strongly suggest mental health therapy for you since you post a polarizing and vehement topic in a CUDDLE FORUM to just basically stir up what ever in the responses without due diligence to listen, hear, or care what other experiences and history are.

don't care if people agree or not, just want to hear opinions on the topic

Agree with what? You are so unclear and negatively focused, why all the questions about a human's inability to be platonic and their experiences of such?

Very odd enthusiasm to garner responses on experiences and opinions, unvalidated on a** ****PLATONIC CUDDLE FORUM. Maybe, check with head shrink first. ** Then please, inform us all on that advice and growth from understaning primal urges and self control.
