Certified professional cuddler?

Is this a thing? I'm looking at someone's profile (they joined this month) and claim to be certified. The pics as a bit on the cleavage side. And their rate is $80/hr, well below the norm in my area.

Yes, if it seems too good to be true....

But is certified cuddlers really a thing?

    I know Cuddlist offers a training and certification program.

    Yes, Cuddlist Certification is offered through cuddlist.com, it’s currently a $799 course. It’s not connected to Cuddle Comfort. I believe Cuddlist was founded by Samantha Hess in Portland, Oregon. In 2015, she appeared on 2 episodes of the TV show America’s Got Talent. Howard Stern asks her questions and the judges walk up on stage and form a cuddle pile as she survives the first round, but she’s eliminated in the second round; you can watch both segments on YouTube.

    @CuddleButtLOL is correct. There has been a post or two on this in the past. I’m not bashing on this because I think there are some good and positive things that I’m guessing that they address.

    For me personally it seems like it would be too much of a clinical, by the numbers experience, but I do think it is or could be a positive thing for others- depending on the client profile.

    I once met with a certified cuddlist who promotes the fact that they know 90 cuddle positions. Sounds exhausting!!

    @Auroradream that’s exactly what I’m talking about in my comment above you. Cuddling is not a mathematical equation, or a list of boxes to be checked.. I wonder if they ask for consent every 40 seconds. Do I have consent to cuddle you. Do I have consent to hold your hand? Do I have consent to wrap my leg around you? Do I have consent to put my hand here or my leg there? If you’re a victim of trauma or are fearful or have heavy issues then I can understand how this baby step in consent approach could be of value, but like I said for the average pedestrian I think not.

    I certainly won’t die on this hill - I’m not anti certificate or training mind you - I’m just razzin’ it a bit. But hey - if people want to up their game, no harm in that….

    I see the point in questioning this
    .... but it's also an answer to the people who complain about pros not going through any training. There are some who have.

    I am currently do the training through the "cuddle professionals international" course. I consider myself an awesome professional cuddler as I am, but I chose to do further training to learn even more about cuddling. 🤷😉

    Businesses that come up with "certifications" are doing it for income. They make up their own rules and coursework. It's their marketing and their sales. The certificates mean nothing in the real world, no state or medical board recognizes them.

    Yes. You can get a PhD from a non-existent University or a certificate from a highly regarded barn somewhere. It depends on the reputation of the certifier. The Cuddle Sanctuary offers certification.

    @PeopleLikeUs Nice to think that but that’s the equivalent of clients to a pro cuddler. Certification is “training”.

    Samantha Hess did go to America's Got Talent but she was the founder of "Cuddle Up To Me" in 2013 in Portland, Oregon. She closed down in 2022.

    "Cuddlist" launched in late 2015, a collaboration between Adam Lippin, a conscious entrepreneur, and Madelon Guinazzo, a consent expert.

    I think you were mostly joking. But it’s an interesting thought. I know at least part of the reason pros charge (what they do) is their worry about safety and gross behavior from clients.

    It would be cool if there were a more reliable way for those pros to make a more educated guess about which clients are less likely to push boundaries, And it would be cool if that added assurance resulted in a lower rate for cuddles, or even just first-time cuddles. If that were on the table, I’d probably be willing to pay for that certification.

    @Sooson she is with Cuddlist as the co founder and is a Facilitator and on the Board of Directors for Cuddle Party still as far as I know.
