If You Could BE...

Hey there all! My name is Zara, and my day job is working with students with learning disabilities where we focus on fine motor skills, handwriting and social emotional learning :)

One of my older students (11,M) asked me - "If you could do ANYTHING, and all your basic needs were met, what would you do with your life?"

I don't think this interaction will truly ever leave me. So I want to know... If you could do anything with your life, and all your basic needs (housing, food, ability to care for yourself and your family) are met - what would you do?

    I'd probably just learn as many languages as I could and learn every skill. Why stop at jack of all trades when I'd have the time to be a master of all?šŸ˜Š Knowledge is fun.

    Years ago I would have said, "pro wrestler," and I'm pleased to say I made that happen. I did that for many years, though I had to balance that with family and other obligations-choices.

    I am still involved in sports entertainment in a mostly non-wrestling capacity, but at 60 I am struggling a bit to figure out the next chapter. I still enjoy SE, but I'm not passionate about what I'm doing anymore so I've been doing a lot of reflection and such lately.

    I would continue doing the volunteer work that I have been doing for the last 15 years. Different organizations with varying purposes so I am not doing the same thing over and over. Very fulfilling.

    I'd like to be wealthy and run projects aimed at struggling children especially teens, run communiy projects teaching life and social skills on a full time basis.

    Travel more.

    Cross referenced confirmed 5 body count now for pencils jesus this is going to rival the boner thread count at some point . It's only a matter of time before this becomes a stickied thread topic and will be provided by forum members in a multi link post when new people join, even though they never asked for a list of links to begin with. This is history in the making.

    @pmvines And pencils are so common. Pretty much everyone has at least one, most people several. I'm sure you've got a #2 there.

    I would pass my motorbike test and travel the world, seeing all the sights that you would miss if you flew instead. So many missed places by being in a rush :3

    I would definitely travel all around the world. And then after, or perhaps during my travels, I would want to do some type of volunteer work--with rescuing animals, or working with kids who struggle academically--specifically reading.

    I would find a way to be a successful software engineer for Google, while simultaneously being a famous successful rock star in a metal band (probably singer and guitarist) that doesn't compromise their sound to "sell out" or sound too mainstream. Hopefully with the money generated from both of these, since my needs would be already met... I could travel (though I suppose music touring could count), donate to a bunch of causes (including colleges I went to), give family members a bunch of money to pay off their debts and lighten their load and stress, buy a lot of gifts for many friends and family members, and so on.

    If that meant being rich enough to never need to work again, I'd do voluntary work as much as possible most likely.

    Otherwise I'd probably persue my dream of being a CSI haha.
