Attn: Narcissists

edited September 2024 in General

I’m getting really tired of seeing so many women referring to themselves in their profile names as beautiful, gorgeous, and pretty. I saw it yet again today!

Can you imagine meeting someone in person and they introduce themselves by saying: Hi, my name is Gorgeous Kelly.

If you really are, I’m sure we’ll notice, but I don’t need you to tell me.

  • Is there a point to this post? Just move on. What somebody has in their profile as long as it doesn't break any TOS is none of your business.

I always thought that was a bit narcissistic, too, and I'm surprised this is the first time someone mentioned it. Because you're right: beauty is subjective, and I don't need to be told. I can see for myself.

@Mike403 i mean they are literally posting it on a public forum, so we're kinda free to talk about it.. Whats the point of your reply? It didn't really add anything to the discussion. People talk about stuff on people's profiles all the time in this forum. Seems like you just didn't like this one lol

@Mike403 Ummmm Mike are you kidding me?

Whether someone is violating the TOS is not the litmus test for posting. The high majority of posts have nothing to do with that and you should know better than anyone! I’ve seen countless posts come from you on topics less relevant and all over the board so don’t even come at me with that. And don’t transfer a previous beef onto this thread mate so kindly follow your own advice and move on.

Is this keeping you awake at night?
I simply cannot recommend a YouTube channel that I follow called Bedtime Stories enough, it's mostly about cryptids , mysteries that are not widely known, etc. Puts my ass straight to sleep, everytime. It takes me a week to finish a 30 min episode. 🤗

He also does a series called wartime stories that's it's own channel if that's your thing!

On this topic, I feel a lot of that comes from being judged and rated for their appearance as cuddlers and women in general so it's a marketing thing. If beauty wasn't so much a factor in men deciding who to book with , then perhaps there would not be as much playing it up and pandering to that with the descriptions and pics in profile. As a man we can sure complain about it, but there is also responsibly to be taken for creating that. And sometimes it's simply just benign confidence and wanting to have fun with yourself . Whatever it is or what you want to refer to it as, it is not narcissism.

  • That's not what narcissistic means and why do you care? I don't know what this is called but it's an "it's" of some sort.

  • I'm not actually made of iron (at least, not any more than the typical person). If it makes you feel better, you can call me just plain Lemon.

While there are numerous definitions and examples, this is the first thing that popped up:

“Excessive interest in or admiration of one’s self and physical appearance”.

    Vanity maybe.
    But Vanity was a model.
Models get paid for their looks.
Maybe just call them CC Mod-(no)-els

  • I consider them “self affirmations”. Like complimenting yourself and knowing your own worth. I have one girlfriend that has a TikTok channel dedicated to a good night self affirmation video. She stands in front of a mirror, recording herself saying things like “I am beautiful, I am enough, I am amazing and gorgeous. I am rich and interesting” among a lot of other things.

I’m sure a lot of these people that put those kinds of usernames on their profiles are looking for a certain clientele, same as men that make their usernames “sitonmyface”, “bigdick69” or “handsome Muscles”, but I would consider most of these self-complimenting names or profiles to be means of personal validation.

    I actually agree with @WestsideMarc
I get that some people have a very high opinion of themselves, and that can be a good thing to a degree but honestly, it just makes me laugh.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Could mean the person looking in the mirror or the person looking at them who may not agree about whether they’re beautiful. 🤩

  • @Sheena123 A username on a platonic website like CC is a totally different context. And I’m not even talking about pros necessarily. BTW Youtube Saturday night live Stuart Smalley - decades ahead of its time.

  • Self-affirmations are for the self...making it something other people call you is quite different. I'm familiar with positive self-talk, manifesting, etc. Naming yourself something such as what's being discussed just comes off as conceited, shallow, and possibly looking for a sugar daddy.

@pmvines You gotta point there! 😊👍

    @pmvines 😁👍

  • But Vanity was a model.

@ScroogeMcducky True, she definitely was not a good singer. 😏

Okay, Nasty Girls had a catchy tune yeah it was a hit, she was basically TALKING rather then singing anyway.😜
Her acting abilities wasn't so bad I did enjoy watching her in The Last Dragon and Action Jackson back in the day.😉😁

  • I am a Gem

@gem7 And are you truly, truly OUTRAGEOUS?!

    😁

Complaint noted. But the odds are the women doing this don't care about your opinion and won't change their names.

  • @WestsideMarc
Your OP reminded me of this…

  • @IronLemon , but are you, in fact, a lemon?

I am not actually a bear. Just shaped like one.

  • @Mr_Cuddle_Bear

I am not actually a bear. Just shaped like one.

That's too bad. I was all set to choose you.

  • @Katota The Last Dragon... A classic ...wait.... I can renew my name soon.... Shonuff maybe lol

  • @ScroogeMcducky Lol 😆
    Go for it! 👍

Just don't walk around asking random people this question...
