X9 Solar Flare headed our way this weekend

An X-9 Coronal Mass Ejection (CME aka Solar Flare) is heading toward earth. An X-9 is a massive one and it looks to be centered in the Atlantic Ocean between South America and Africa. The Eastern half of the U.S. will probably be more affected than the Western half.

This will likely cause the Nothern Lights to be seen in the Southern part of the U.S. and could potentially temporarily disrupt radio / satellite communications.

Excellent. Time to do some appropriate magick and charge some sun tea. Too bad I'm in the western US. I hope people's lives aren't too disrupted by this.

  • Dude, the last one (and my first experience seeing an aurora) was awesome; at first I thought nothing was happening...then I turned around and a massive pair of angel wings was hanging in the sky over the house. Gorgeous!

Sadly, smoke from wildfires seems to have obscured our relatively small chance of seeing it, tonight.

I'll shoot for the results of Wednesday's record flare! 🌌
