Curvy?

  • "Why does [insert specific feature being discussed here] matter for platonic cuddling this isn't a dating site."

Why are we so often "reminded" of this when a feature/preference is being discussed?

This is not a dating site. Yes, we know. Thank you.

  • Curvy is not overweight.. curvy is flat stomach, hips, rump, top... curves on the side, the back, the front top..... not big

@TxTom Hey, I'm just curious. Can I expect to find a date on this site? 😉

  • My goal is to be respectful on this topic.

Years ago after some health issues, I got up to my highest recorded weight. Made some diet adjustments and started losing weight. Once my weight stabilized at one point, my doctor said I had made great progress down like 35 pounds. She commented that by BMI most people are classified as overweight even though are healthy.

I recall I a friend sharing somewhat recently on Facebook a collage of Marilyn Monroe with some text that many people often regard her as one of most beautiful women of all time. By today’s standards she would be considered overweight.

I don’t think it much of an issue in most cases. Years ago on a dating site, I made a great connection with a girl a couple hours away. She described her self as average. One day she says she’s coming to town for work and we agreed to meet for the first time. At the restaurant, I did not recognize her. She was easily over double my weight, but almost a foot shorter. She was very obese. Her photos were “old.” When there’s that level of disconnect either about how one views themselves or how they portray themselves to others, then it becomes an issue.

  • Body shape doesn't matter to me they can post whatever their hearts desire what's important to me is if you're a good , affectionate cuddler. And not someone that just lay there like a dead corpse

Once upon a time curvy meant the kind of girl mentioned in Sir Mix A Lot’s “baby got back”. 36-24-36? Ha, only if she’s 5’3”.

Nowadays it means anything bigger than “fit”. Somebody is using that word for most anything imaginable.

Our body type descriptions are very nuanced interpretation that's different to everyone.

To me, curvy implies larger breasts/hips and perhaps a touch thick but generally fit.

Add a little more weight and that's "A little extra". Thicc is a fair synonym.

Then comes overweight, followed by obese.

  • For me, I'm full figured or just fat. 😁👍

I have seen my share of men stating "a few extra pounds" on their profiles when in reality it's MORE than "a few"...😜😁

It's okay to say you're fat, IF that is how YOU wish describe your body. There are worse things to be then fat!☺️

  • I just read some of your comments @kleen. I agree that a pic is important for the same reason but hesitated to say so cause I did not want to cause the profile pic thread to transfer to this thread, but you are so right.

Why does body type matter for platonic cuddling this isn't a dating site.

If I’m dishing out my hard earned money and I have a choice between a physically attractive female or Name-calling redacted. -JoyfulHeart, I’m choosing the physically attrcative female. Platonic or not. I must add, looks are not everything so it’s a good thing there’s a great selection of attractive cuddlers in Los Angeles.

And OP, to answer your question, people can choose to identify with whatever body type they want. There are no guidelines.

Name-calling is specifically prohibited in the forum rules. This applies regardless of whether the target is a specific person or an unspecified group of people. -JoyfulHeart

@TxTomthe question is posed by the site. Why do you think they post the question?

  • As long as the woman doesn't have her boob's exposed and no shiny skin tight leggings on I'm definitely cool with the hugs!!! But I have never try this so I can't lie I will be nervous!!!

  • [Deleted User]Skittlebaggz (deleted user)

ANY woman can say they are “curvy”..ur stomach has curves, your breasts creates curves, and for some of us, our backside/hip area is curvy. Some of us are only curvy because of that stomach. Everyone is curvy! When that gut sits further than the belt line, you’re fat. When it’s too much “pork on the fork”, you’re obese. I have an average build with curves (5”4 145lbs) and according to USMC standards, I’m almost at my max 🤦🏾‍♀️ (so I would be considered a fatty). But in the real world, I’m average. Weight standards doesn’t matter to me when it comes to cuddling. I actually like cuddling with guys with a little weight on them. I got thunder thighs and you can’t have no weak legs if you want my legs on yours LOL. But as long as you are comfy with your weight, that’s all that matters.

  • What I’ve learned from this thread.

@lonelytauros has a new ideal version of curvy thanks to @huggaboo_baby

As expected -there are wildly varying definitions of curvy.

@Sooson Has an extremely cute cat that is not curvy but may want to go outside.

    **
What I expect will be the result of this thread.**

@huggaboo_baby will probably need to hire an assistant to help her deal with new cuddle requests.

More people will continue to ask.

Why does body type matter for platonic cuddling?

This thread may also spill over into- other discussions. Like

Why are some Pros so expensive?

Are people are seeking more than platonic cuddling?

  • My definition of curvy is hourglass shape women, with defined narrow waist, bust & hip equal proportions. Curvy women usually have average size built, not too skinny but not chunky either. They usually have fit & somehow toned physique but not too overly athletic built, so they still have soft feminine look. I wear size 4 sometimes 6 if it runs small & I'm curvy. Cuddle Comfort has other body type categories: a little extra; full figured & overweight for much larger size curvy women.

I personally wish they went one set further and had an 'obese' option. I am working on my weight but am 230 and only 5foot. I am not just overweight. Not if we are honest with the terms.

I do not want to be in a situation when someone is surprised by how round I am an uncomfortable cuddling because of their own preconceived ideas of who I am based on my size.

Being overly honest would weed out people Id like to weed out. People are allowed their preferences. I just don't want to feel that rejection in my face at a door. Ya know?

(Yes I do have a photo online and will send more privately to those looking to book).

  • @BrianOcean LOL, you are so funny.

  • @CuddleFantastic
I totally get that. I think the options are trying to straddle the line between polite and not sexual, but I'm not really loving the results. Perhaps they could have an Other option where people could enter whatever term they are comfortable with.

In any case, the best way to painlessly weed out people is to have a body shot (preferably multiple) in your profile. Pictures seem to be the first thing (and sometimes the only thing) people look at, so anyone who isn't accepting of your body simply won't message you.

Saves your time being wasted (and theirs...let's hope maybe they put that saved time to use learning about body acceptance 😜). You'll be left with only the cream of the crop...okay, and dudes with a BBW fetish, but I've found those are easy to fight off. 😄

  • I feel we shouldn't have to put body type at all. I'm sure once two people agree to cuddle , that they will share a pic of themselves and then only that cuddler will know. It shouldn't matter anyways in my opinion

  • [Deleted User]jimmylee (deleted user)

@SunsetSnuggles Great ideas! I had a cuddle buddy a couple years ago who had an unfortunate engagement. She have extraordinarily large hips and rear. Personally I didn't mind and was fine with our cuddling. Well, a previous cuddler was not so pleased. She had a couple pictures posted with her profile, but they were all of her smiling from behind her kitchen counter/bar. The aforementioned previous cuddler felt that she had not been genuine with him. She told me, "I don't get it. I had pictures of me posted publicly on my profile." Feelings were hurt on both sides.

  • [Deleted User]jimmylee (deleted user)

@team_cuddle Putting your body type is an options, not a requirement. You don't think it should be there? Don't put it on your profile. Those who want to can. Everyone's happy.

  • @jimmylee , your right. Ty for letting me know. And hopefully those who don't feel comfortable will leave it blank.

  • On these forums, I've heard it suggested that:
    profiles shouldn't feature body type.
    profiles shouldn't feature photos.
    profiles shouldn't feature relationship status.
    profiles shouldn't feature job status.
    ...and on and on.

After all, this isn't a dating site.

I suppose that would leave us with nothing but a field of avatars to choose from:

@TxTom I call dibs on the fat avatar!

  • Yea I remember when I first got here someone told me I shouldn't have listed myself as overweight but like.. Im fat, why wouldn't I lol! They really need to stop acting like being fat is such a bad thing to be, but Im not about to die on that hill, it is what it is.
Its actually a pet peeve of mine when I get told im not fat, I really am, and I work with what I got! I don't like saying I'm curvy, because I am not! I'm built like a plush teddy bear LOLL and I aint mad at it.

  • [Deleted User]jimmylee (deleted user)

@Chuletica Love your attitude. If everyone had your attitude we wouldn't need threads like this one. :)

  • edited October 2024

I personally LOVE cuddly teddy bears, so im hoping I give off the SAME DAMN VIBES. Lol! And thank you @jimmylee !
(Edit: I know I dont really have full body pics, but its mostly cause I havent taken one in a while, not cause im trying to hide my chunky B) )

  • @TxTom

I feel obligated to remind you -This is not a dating site.
