Body type

Hey there, this is another question coming from a blind user. I like these forums because I feel like I can ask questions and not be judged for it. So here comes another one.πŸ™‚
I'm not really sure what this whole body type thing means. I haven't really had much exposure with these sorts of things, I have no clue what my body type is, I have no clue what any of these things mean, I don't know, I just don't have experience with this.
I'm not even really sure what to ask, all I know is that I was talking with someone and he was trying to help me find a professional in my area, and he asked me what body type I was looking for, and he started listing off these things, and I'm just like… I have no clue. And I felt really stupid, because I honestly could not understand what he was talking about.

  • Body type is a physical generalization having to do with someone's height and weight. It's perfectly okay if you have a preference in this regard. It's also perfectly okay if you don't.

  • Just think of what you'd like to feel with physical contact. Some people enjoy a more soft feeling when they are embracing or being embraced. So that could mean you'd like a full figured partner. It could also refer to what people have described as curvy. You may want to be able to wrap your arms all the way around a person, keep that in mind. For some people they enjoy being carressed, there for body type might not be an issue. I enjoy it all so it's not that big of a deal to me in a platonic sense. I think you'll have to get out there and cuddle to find what you really like. Just use the reference you have and go from there until you learn. References could include what you felt when you were a child when being held by a family member. It could be the feeling you enjoy from a hug from a person you are familiar with. Some may like to feel a strong body type, women may like firm large arms or something like that. Just reference what you know and go from there, you'll find what you are looking for.

  • @BashfulLoner I can't even remember anything that I can compare it to. I haven't been held in years, I really don't know if I can compare it to anything.
I want to try to feel every body type, because then I would know what people are talking about.πŸ˜•πŸ˜°

  • I think that's your best option. It's sometimes good to not have a reference point so you can learn for yourself and not have any prejudgments. I can only speak from the speak from the perspective of ladies but i will tell you all body types have there benefits and all are lovely. So to me the personality and behaviors are the most important factors.

  • Body type is an informal system used widely in mainstream modern western society to categorise human beings. Every person has a body type, which may change during their life. It is primarily observational and is not intrinsically derogatory or taboo, although care should always be taken to avoid giving offence accidentally. Some people's perception of their body type is very different from the consensus. Opinions on exactly what each body type description means are highly variable, and the boundaries between the types are vague and fluid.

Body type is not usually applied to children, especially younger children, and in general it should not be used with reference to people under 18 as it can impact development.

Body type may be assessed visually (the most common method) or by touch, for example in cuddling. There is no direct connection between body type and character, although some less well educated people attempt to make such a connection and indeed base prejudices on it.

A person's body type results from a combination of hereditary, environmental and lifestyle factors. A person's height may or may not be considered part of their body type, since almost any body type can occur with almost any height. The four most significant parameters that comprise body type are: body fat percentage; fat distribution type; muscle percentage; and bone length ratio (e.g. femur length to spine length).

Cuddle Comfort profiles allow members to describe their body type using one of nine types. This basic system is common for member profiles in many types of website and app, and although the types listed vary from place to place the general thrust of the thing does not. The types used here, each with a brief description by me, given below. I have changed the order in order to make it more logical.

    • Skinny - very low body fat percentage and small muscles
    • Slim - a little more fat and/or muscle than 'Skinny'
    • Average - catch-all descriptor for people who don't really fit any other category. Does not mean average in any mathematical sense
    • Fit - proportionally more muscle and less fat than 'Average'
    • Athletic - typical physique of a club or professional sportsperson; high muscle, low fat
    • A little extra - Body Mass Index or other medical indicators are above the recommended levels, but not by a lot
    • Curvy - really only applies to women not men, and means that bust/hip circumference is noticeably larger than waist. Sometimes called 'hourglass' figure.
    • Overweight - high fat percentage
    • Full-figured - very high fat percentage

Some other types that are not listed on this site are:

    • Lanky - proportionally long arm and leg bones, acccompanied by an average or lower body fat percentage; sometimes referred to as 'stick-insect'
    • Muscular - somewhat like 'A little extra' except that the excess is muscle not fat
    • Pear-shaped - body fat is carred disproportionally around the hips and thighs
    • Apple-shaped - body fat is carried disproportionally around the waist; in men, this is sometimes called a beer-belly

Body type has no qualitative effect on cuddling. However, it is not irrelevant. Cudding somebody who is overweight is not better or worse than cuddling somebody who is lanky, but the cuddling positions which are possible or comfortable may be different.

When choosing your first or second professional cuddler, ignore body type. It just isn't important enough at that stage. (And arguably is never important.)

I have cuddled with dozens of people one-to-one and have never considered body type when choosing a new professional. However, I have considered body type when needing a cuddle and deciding who amongst my existing cuddle partners to ask first. For example, if I want to be spooned then person A may be more suitable than person B because of body type. But then on another occasion if I wanted to be the big spoon it would be the other way around.

  • @HealingSystem You seem so nice and are so easy to read and relate to. I hope you get gobs of cuddles. Alas you live too far away for me to take you to lunch. I would like that.

  • @HealingSystem try and reach out to those in your area. Hopefully you can cuddle soon!!
I am hoping it works out for you!

    @CuddleDuncan what about "husky"? 😊

  • I think we stopped using "husky" in the 90s or at least it went down with Sears!

@BashfulLoner lol thanks for picking up on that.

This is your answer, and a lovely perspective, at that...being open to all shapes and sizes, without prejudice. 😌

The simplest way to explain body type, since you said you can't remember your last human reference, is to think of your pets. You have mentioned cuddling your dog, I believe. Is it a small or medium dog? The way it feels and the manner in which you hold it, may vary drastically from the way your cat feels, and how you hold your cat. You may give one tight bear hugs, and gently cradle the other. That's just an idea I had that you may directly relate to. 😊

My dog is small, but he is decidedly more sturdy than my sister-in-law's Yorkie. That little thing feels like she could break in my hands. So it's not always about size difference, it can be about perceived strength or fragility...

I don't know if you've ever held a ferret, but say you have a ferret that weighs the same as a rabbit... They are shaped very differently, though. One is long and tubelike, and the other short and round. The ferret would likely drape over your arm, while the bunny would tuck up into the corner of your arm. Same weight...different shape...different "cuddle" styles. 🀭 I hope this was helpful in some way!
