What is your thought on deposits for pros?

[Deleted User]CuddleFantastic (deleted user)

I am new. I have had more than one person waste my time already saying they wanted to meet and were really fishing for more photos, yadda. And those clearly expecting more than cuddles.

I read through other pros profiles to see if I could put wording in my profile to make it really clear that I am not going to do anything non platonic. And to make myself stick out more as someone here as part of a business.

I expect to probably spend a little money to invest in myself in starting things. With no feedback or karma I expected that Id maybe meet more people for get to know you chats that could go either way, paying for my gas and maybe a coffee or such. That sort of thing.

I saw some others have deposits required and thought that this would help filter out the time waisters. If you have to pay a non- refundable deposit, it would be stupid to do so and not really show up, right?

I have no intention to pray on people, if something is canceled because of me (I get sick, I have a flat tire, yadda), I'd 100% give back the deposit. Thats just good business.

But I have read other people saying they skip past pros with required deposits so now I am second guessing myself.

What are your thoughts either way?

  • I think i don't trust them. But also i see why some require them. So it could go either way if i ever paid one. Leaning toward no because id likely not initiate conversation if i seen that listed.

Is it more feeling like the person could take advantage, scam you out of that money somehow ?

Not coming for you, Just want to understand all sides so I can make the right choice for myself.

@CuddleFantastic many pros will charge a deposit but at the same time many guys will book pros who don’t. That’s not to say some guys won’t pay and some may even be happy to do so. You can always try the deposit and see how it affects your business. Pros with lots of karma shouldn’t have too much trouble with getting a deposit but maybe for a new pro it might be a challenge

Thank you for the feedback. :)

  • The problem arises from scammers requiring large deposits and then disappearing with them. The reality is that it is the principle of a deposit that makes the difference, not the amount, so experiment with a small deposit. Maybe $10 or a gift 'coffee' from somewhere. See if it works.

Yes there are a few people who won't pay a deposit under any circumstances. It seems that in many cases this is due to a very deep-seated insecurity, and therefore there is nothing you can do about it.

Getting started as a professional cuddler isn't easy. The sticky topics at the top of the Professional Cuddling board will help considerably.

  • In my opinion they could just not fulfill the obligation. I've never experienced it in CC, but past experiences in other matters have caused me to be cautious.

Those are good ideas. I will see if that makes a difference. Thank you for the feedback.

  • Always deposits for first sessions.
Even the most absurd pittance of a deposit will scare away the bridge trolls who come here to entertain themselves by wasting your time and it feels great when the bin lid slams shut on them before they can even try. If someone who was planning to follow through gets caught in that particular net, I feel great about that too. 😃

Thank you for the feedback :)
I am considering the idea of a coffee card deposit. It's something that can be checked quickly.

First off its your business. Run it how you see fit, deposits common in most things. Me personally I'm not one to really do deposits until there is some level of trust in the person.

YusukeU thank you for the feedback. :)

I only ask for a deposit when they’re asking me to drive further than a half hour away.

@CuddleFantastic dont take my statement to say that i believe pros shouldn't charge deposits, it's just how i handle my business

I think lonelytaurus gave you some sound advice and starting with something small as a good faith effort might help.

  • @CuddleFantastic Quick question: I notice you happen to have a profile picture, but in the forum it is the generic; do you happen to know how you achieved that? (Just curious)

  • There's a women in Dallas charging deposit but she has good karma like over 100 people and people do cancel or do fake booking but guys this site does take 15 percent each person that books with us . But if you guys not comfortable of paying deposit than don't move on to some else there plenty of fish in the sea lol ☺️

  • This is a weird comment to make. @vipcuddle om not sure you really want to add to this conversation

Yeah I'm not sure how that's happened. I have it as public. I've tried adding a second photo to push it to show and that didn't help.
On my end I should have a profile photo. Don't know.

  • As a client, I no longer pay deposits here. Had a "pro" take the $30 and disappear. But I do see both sides or requiring one.

  • When a pro requires a deposit before the first session, I just skip it and book the second session instead.

  • @Sooson that's some smart, out-of-the-box thinking there. 💀

  • @starrynitecuds Thank you! I'm sure many here share that sentiment about me. Good to see you again, I wish you a lovely weekend.

Also,a new discussion subject for a change huh? it's been a while so since deposits were discussed I figured i'll chime in with a tip for the newbies.

We have determined that multiple threads about the same topics seems to be the preferential over necro threads in these here parts of the interwebs

  • I ask for deposits based on personal experience or no/negative karma. Everyone is safe from deposits to book with me unless they have no rapport, negative karma regarding no-shows/tardiness, or if they have cancelled on my personally more than once. If I had to cancel for whatever reason, I would refund them :) it’s just to avoid them wasting a spot that I could have filled with another client or personal activity.

I don’t have a way to do an electronic deposit, so I have to regrettably skip any pros that ask for them.

  • @GuyverGordon I believe the profile photo not showing on the forum is a bug related to the format of the photo.

  • I had a pro confirm a session and asked for deposit. I send them then they came to the cuddle and asked for the total session fee without subtracting the deposit. After which I don’t give deposit. I recently had another pro ask for deposit and when I explained what had happened to me they got upset sent me a not so happy message and then blocked me.
As far as i am personally concerned I would never give deposit.

  • @sage91436 absolutely reasonable to expect a deposit with travel!

  • Seems like it only takes a single bad experience for someone to no longer be willing to pay a deposit. The standard seems much higher for pros that want a deposit or a picture.

  • I personally avoid those that request/require deposits. They apparently came to be a necessity due to increased popularity of the sport and increased unreliabilty of a person's stated intentions. The more hurdles to cuddling, though, the less likely I'm going to request it. It's a choice. It's not like buying car insurance, lol. But do what you think you need to do. If you get clients who accept the terms, then I guess that it has value.
