Which is worse, or better, depending on your outlook? Necro threads raised from the depths of the forum graveyards from long ago, or a new.thread with the identical same or slight variation of the same topics over and over again?

I like the remakes actually, it’s just easier and interesting to see the new users dredge up the same old topics When old threads are referred to here, I am tempted to go find them. There was one mentioned recently called inappropriate profiles, well I can see why it disappeared but the drama would’ve been interesting to read.
New threads asking about the same crap we’ve beat to death more than once.
Necro threads where people respond and tag people who deleted years ago are the best. It’s like the perfect time to have a profile name like “I’m With Stupid.”

New because it’s the current crop of forum users participating and no one is tagging abandoned accounts.
If there has been a productive discussion or a really successful thread on a popular topic in the past twoish years, I like to link it, so people can learn from the wisdom that's been posted before and is unlikely to be posted again...we know how people get bored and bitchy with repeat topics, so the likelihood of them taking time to type out meaningful responses goes down astronomically, over time. Our new peeps can always add their thoughts to any thread, old or new.
Sometimes the repeats or similar threads have really good stuff to say, and I wind up linking those in the future, as well.
But overall, seeing frequent repetitive threads on popular topics like pets and books, when we have long-standing mega threads for exactly that, makes my organizational side want to combine and condense. 😆
It would be helpful if new members were sent a message or directed to a locked thread with links to the FAQ's...no, not the FAQ, the literal FAQ's... Favorite Cuddle Position, What are You Reading, Why Isn't Cuddling Free, How Does This Site Work, Where to Cuddle in Public, Pet Pictures, Favorite Games, etc. etc. It could be split into on-topic (cuddling) and off-topic mega threads. If people skimmed it, it would cut down on a lot of unnecessary threads that bring about sarcasm, disdain, and popcorn from people who have seen them a few dozen times too many.

Necro threads are far superior to multiple rehashed threads.
Necro threads reduce clutter, and create better forum feng shui.
Necro threads demonstrate the User's competency in conducting forum searches, and as such, their above average intelligence. Thus, the commentary the add to the discussion will likely be worth reading.
Necro threads promote humility: If you have a really good idea worthy of starting a new discussion, necro threads prove your really good idea was already thought of.
Necro threads are fun to read, less irksome, and are usually rebooted with great memes.
Necro threads save electrons.
Plus necro is just a fun word

@starrynitecuds In my defense that first one was actually a reaction to a since banned member who was undoubtedly in a manic state and dug up literally like 25 old and dusty threads from years ago lol. Didn't even post anything of value just a bunch of lols, emojis, agreed, smh, etc
That just shows every thread has a teeny tiny unique twist. Thanks for keeping the humor alive and well.

I'm a dead thread head, lol. I prefer Necro and agree with @Txtom. Wish I could have worded like he did. One time I was chastised by a mod for resurrecting a Necro thread that was started by a banned person.

They are the same to me. But the same threads are often times the same topic being interjected in other threads. I know it's not always the persons fault that they bringing up old sh;/ but it's still old to me.
I don't really care, but of the two I like the Necro threads better.
I’m kind of confused by the either/or dialog.
For some topics the older threads likely have decent existing information and serve as a message board/wiki ; many of those have been made faqs or sticky threads.
But for many current posts it’s not about what someone said 4 years ago, that you have never interacted with. That would be research. For those it’s about interacting today with people active on the forums to get their input, socialize, etc.
