Cuddling statistics by climate

Hello all, I had a random thought so I looked through older posts to see if there was an existing thread on this topic but didn’t see anything (didn’t look very hard but I did look😇), so I figured I’ll go ahead and ask.

The question is does climate correlate with cuddling activity? I live in the desert so of course in the summer without ac I could see cuddles being strictly limited!

But does CC have stats on cuddle activity by region, climate zone, etc? I’d guess that colder and temperate climates there’d be more folks open to it. Seems to fit the classic blanket by the fire theme.

Of course I’m greatly anticipating the transition to beautiful where here in AZ. The late season heat has been a bummer. Usually beautiful 70s by now.

    I’ve scraped data from CC a couple of times (May and June of this year) to better understand the number of active users, ratio of men to women, pros to enthusiasts, who are the most frequent contributors to the forums, etc.

    The question you are asking is a great question but only someone with access to the backend data on CC (confirmed bookings) would be able to answer that question. I could scrape data on the frequency of karma being left by week or month but that would be a very poor proxy for a measure of how much cuddling was actually taking place because an unknown percentage of cuddling results in karma being left and sometimes karma is left for virtual cuddles.

    Yes.

    Cold = cozy cuddle
    Hot = sweaty puddle

    @TxTom Hmm. Maybe we need a new cuddle category for hot climates?

    Bikram cuddle? Worked for yoga but I just don’t see it taking off the same way.

    I would think most cuddles take place indoors. So, whatever the weather outside, it would be likely 68-70 degrees for most cuddles. Just a conjecture. I know there are some public cuddles outside, but I would think they represent a small percentage.

    So did I initially, but as I get exposed to more profiles over time there seems to be a significant number public cuddlers in AZ. Some are public only.

    That sounds nice at 70 deg, as you say. But at 115? Maybe in a pool or on a river. 😇

    My office air conditioning is so strong that summer was the best cuddle weather! Unable to control the settings, the heater in winter is too hot and summer so cold! LOL

    There was a fairly recent thread on temperature, weather, time of year, or something along those lines, but I'm not sure what they named it, and a light search didn't bring it up.

    From what I recall of the thread, most people preferred cuddling indoors, with cool temperatures, under a blanket.

    Personally, I do the vast majority of my cuddles in public, so a ton of them are outdoors. It depends on the weather, if we head for a park versus a coffee shop with couches, etc. I don't tend to travel as much during the winter, and with all the holidays, I'm more likely to spend travel time with family, anyway.

    I don't really care what the weather is, because you can always move...if it's hot, go inside a hotel lobby, a mall lounge area, etc. 🧋 If it's cold, snuggle up in the back of a truck/SUV with sleeping bags and soft blankets. Run the heat if you need to, and sip hot chocolate. ☕️

    For those who cuddle indoors, I don't see why it would ever matter. Climate control is one of my favorite reasons to live in this time in history. 🤩

    To supplement your comments, people don't necessarily leave Karma immediately upon cuddling. Lots of meet and greet trotters ask for Karma after a two-minute chit-chat, and may never even cuddle that person in the future. Some people cuddle for months before determining an overall vibe, then leaving a Karma. Some do rush right home after the first cuddle and post Karma. Sometimes Karma pops up randomly, two years after you met, because life got in the way. And sometimes peeps are just behind...I still need to write Karma for cuddle friends in Utah, Vegas, and Colorado. 🫣

    @SunsetSnuggles i thought I saw one too but could not find it.

    I think the truck and cocoa sounds awesome. Arizona has beautiful mountains and river valleys that could be appreciated that way.

    @Mare_Bear that’s funny. There are some folks here that think that 68 is a great summer indoor temp when it’s 40 degrees warmer outside. I get cold in that kind of ac.

    Heck yes, my last two birthdays, all I asked my boyfriend for was to go to Grand Teton National Park, back the SUV up to the river, and snuggle on a sea of sleeping bags and pillows back there, listening to the water and staring up at the pine trees.

    🤭 You don't wanna know how many months I've had the heater set to 66°. I turned it up to 67° yesterday for the first time since early spring...because we got some rain and a bit of snow, so the ambient temperature felt much more chilly than it's been.

    I used to always keep the house at 68° in summer, 72° in winter. Guess I've acclimated since moving to the high elevation, here. 66° and 70°, now...

    @SunsetSnuggles - great points. I knew karma would be a very poor indicator of how much cuddling is happening but as you pointed out, it is even worse than I had considered.
