The anti-420 thread

  • I do not like smoking. However those who know me know i am slightly claustrophobic and anxious especially on certain flights / planes. Now that edibles are legal in places its great before boarding certain flights. Also helps on that Las Vegas Observation Ferris Wheel!! :)

  • @OhioMike As someone who takes around 200 flights every year, i feel you. Must be asleep and oblivious by any means necessary with air travel these days. Plus i will never feel the crash.

  • @OhioMike 👍👍👍😂😂😂

  • I dont mind that others use , just not my thing. And I do see that there is benefit to using and feel that can have some therapeutic benefits in some circumstances. But if somebody wants to call me a square, I have actually kicked weed, pills, alcohol, cocaine, crack, and heroin all before the age of 18. I i believe whole heartedly that if I make concessions for one thing, such as weed , alcohol, benzos are what have you , I will keep making comcessions until I get myself into trouble, so no thanks. Nothing to prove here to a pothead who wants to go on about how cool and chill it makes them.

  • Its funny this thread came up. It was just last week that I walked into an apartment to meet a “pro” on here. I smelled some strong ass weed, handed her the money ($190), and left immediately. I can’t deal with that fu**ing smell...like a damn skunk 🦨. Not to mention I had an awful first time experience (I was 31 yrs old).

  • Its definitely not a private drug. You can always tell when someone's been smoking 🤢

  • [Deleted User]sage_wisdom (deleted user)

I don’t have any qualms or reservations about people who blaze it. I would even smoke sporadically like once a month or every 3 months with one person I trust with my life if I made the $$$$$ to be able to do so responsibly. but I would not make a habit of it. I value presence and clarity of mind.

  • Especially when meeting someone for the first time, it's a good idea to avoid any mind-altering substance that could complicate questions of consent.

Personally I dislike the smell, and due to asthma I need to avoid breathing any kind of smoke whenever possible. But I wouldn't object to cuddling with someone who consumed edibles in moderation, as long as we had previously cuddled when they weren't high.

  • I echo what @pmvines said, it's not my thing but I'm not anti-420.

I smoked weed on and off for years (mainly to fit in with friends and partners who did it) but in the end the "out of body" feeling I got just wasn't for me. (Funnily enough my last ex said that was exactly the feeling she loved when she got high.)

In my experience it's hard to be high and present at the same time. Personally I prefer a 420-free cuddle partner, but I totally get why it works great for some.

  • There are also those that medicate, but don't get high.

I was on tablets for my PTSD, and ended up with a heart condition (known side effect) so my Dr referred me to a clinic that specializes. CBD got me through court proceedings, facing my attacker, and cuts the "fight or flight" reaction, within a minute.

I stop sweating, shaking, heart rate slows, even my hypervigilence has chilled out.

I am now capable of long term goals and planning, instead of just trying to get through the next minute, hour, day. Something pills could never do, as they just put me in a constant state of detachment.

I don't smoke, but I prefer to hang out with a 420 Crown over a Drinking Crowd.
Some Drinking Crowd tend to get rowdy and Violent. ( Not all, but many )
In a 420 Crown its " Hey man who stole the Nachos " Have you ever seen a brawl in a 420 crowd ?

  • Really good point @MaullySterling. I've never got on with anxiety meds for the same reason. (Trauma survivor too.) I hadn't really thought about medicinal CBD. Great to hear that it's helping you.

@sjb1973 When I started, it was 13 times a day, a few quick puffs on the vape.

When I was still testifying as witness, they had me taking a little oil, so no crashes between puffs.

Now, I carry the vape as a security blanket, just in case. No oil. Actual usage is maybe once every 2 weeks. Maybe 3. I've stopped tracking.

I've never seen a friend on anxiety meds go off them, entirely, because they're healed.

Weed is one of those things that I’m iffy about. Thing is if someone smokes weed all the time and/or can’t or won’t stop while I’m around, that’s not okay with me. If I’m going to partake it’s going to be cause I want to not cause I’m getting some from being nearby. And if they can’t stop for anybody then I’m always and anyone always plays second fiddle to it. That reeks of selfishness and more selfish behaviors to come. I’m more against smoking and drinking than weed even if I have a drink here and there. It seems at times if people are really into weed they are really into or open to harder drugs, and that’s definitely nothing I need in my life. I don’t need people that partake and stay in a relaxed enough state that they don’t take things serious ever that should be taken seriously.

Instead of making another anti-420 thread, I'll just necro this one.

  • I don't need no stinkin' drugs.

    Except caffeine.

  • I've never had the interest or curiosity to try it. I did go to the potential medicinal effects route, and tried CBD gummies to help with anxiety - I didn't feel any effect though. But I think it's a little concerning when one sees this habit as the only highlight of the day, or just feels a constant need of getting high. Like @TxTom , my main one is caffeine; and I might have one or two drinks in social circumstances.

Never tried it, don’t care to be around it. I want to be with people who are their ‘real selves’, and not someone who has been altered from a substance. The smell also bothers me. It is simply not a pleasant experience for me.

  • I smoked but didn't inhale

    Good one, @Allen1974 !

Since the thread has been necro’d, I think the majority of cannabis users agree that the name-calling was uncalled for here. And it seems hypocritical for someone so uptight (that they start insulting people whose choices don’t affect them at all) to tell others to “relax”. But, I think the specific use of the word “squares” (again, not cool here) was intended to reference the early days of anti-marijuana sentiment being weaponized against cultural minorities.

You might know that sentiment was purposely harnessed and stoked by American government officials with the express aim of marginalizing immigrants, people of color, and anti-war protesters. With a scientific rationale that was known to be a pretext at the time, a “War on Drugs” was launched. Some of the most obvious results of that “war” include the US becoming the world leader in incarceration of its own citizens.

And, with the known flaws embedded in our system of lawmaking and law enforcement, Americans with African and Latinx heritage were impacted disproportionately, as were whites with lower socioeconomic status. So, when a discussion goes beyond “not for me” and bleeds into a tacit (or explicit) condemnation of those who use cannabis, we can probably see why someone got angry.

Thanks for listening. I appreciate you, Mike.

Im on this site everyday. Trying to cut back on it.
Im not on here because new cuddlers are popping up in my area or because im setting up cuddles daily.
Its because the forum and new as well as old opinions.
Basically waiting to see if the day arrives when the mindfuck we have in this world as humans will ever disappear to the point we Don t have to be divisive on opposite spectrum's constantly.
Every single person on here has special needs and grace is difficult but they most important thing we can give one another.

It would actually construct a more productive society that can be progressive and not demonstrative.

My two scents as I hit this blunt..lol..yes I am an empathetic asshole with a fuctioning frontal cortex and caveman tendencies.

  • If you don’t like it don’t do it, but making a thread that’s “anti 4:20” just because someone started one for people who enjoy it kinda maks you an a-hole. There’s a thread for people who have pets, why not start an “anti pet” thread, or go stand in front of an abortion clinic and give women a hard time about the tough situation they’re already in! Stop starting threads that are against what makes people feel good. If other people’s happiness and enjoyment bothers you that much, the problem is you!

If you don't like a thread then simply pass it by.

  • Oh dear 🤦‍♀️

  • I think the specific use of the word “squares” (again, not cool here)

    Seriously?

Someone, today, would choose to be offended when called a "square"? I can't think of anything to be less offeneded by.

The first time I remember hearing the word square used in this context was in Back to the Future. "Marty, don't be such a square. Everybody who's anybody drinks."

We found something we agree on. While I have no interest in it myself, I can easily recognize how propaganda works and how this issue has been used for political purposes over the past several decades.

  • On a related topic, there is an interesting bit of history related to the rise of private prisons (large investment funds profiting from mass incarceration). Some of those same investment funds are major shareholders in record labels who control the contracts of some recording artists who are frequently blamed for promoting / glamorizing illegal behavior in their music.

Those investment funds have all types of holdings so I am not claiming this is proof of cause and effect. However, the timing of the rise of private prisons and a genre of music associated (rightly or wrongly) with promoting behavior prone to increasing prison populations is… “convenient”. 🤔

I am going to sink this. Please make a thread to participate in something that is unrelated to threads you are not interested in. It seems mean-spirited otherwise.

(If another mod or admin disagrees, please unsink)
