Show us your Diamond Paintings!

edited September 2024 in General

Hello everyone! So my friend has this hobby called Diamond Painting, which is kind of like a paint-by-numbers but with these diamond-looking pieces that you stick to the paper. It looked really fun and relaxing so I am going to be getting in to it. If this is also a hobby of yours, please show them off here! I would love to see them. The ones I got are pretty big so it will be a while before I can post mine.

Bonus points if you do diamond painting with a cuddle buddy!

  • My niece did some very tiny simple ones years ago, and my mom did a medium-level one. I'll poke around and see if something colorful strikes my fancy...

It definitely seems like a tedious art, but sparkles are the end product, soooo...worth a shot! πŸ¦„πŸ˜‹

  • A post I can get behind I'm not a diamond painter buuuut I have some stuff I'm working on or worked on.

  • I'm aware these aren't diamond paintings , lol

  • Oh that’s ok, that is so cool! I don’t know how many Diamond Painters are out there so bring on the other kinds of painting as well (with actual paint)!

  • Hey diamond art is still art, don't sell it short, I've seen those TikTok videos and I would smash my head against a wall trying to fo one, they look cool after but ong what a tedious process, I don't know how people do it lol

  • Even those paint by number paintings are fricking cool. Creativity in any form is a valuable thing, I think people underestimate it sometimes

  • I am just waiting for my dining room table to be freed up so I can start my first diamond painting. I am currently building 4 PC’s on that table πŸ˜…, where one is actually for me that will eventually go into an arcade cabinet, so my dining room (which is obviously not used for dining) just needs to become available for different hobby use πŸ˜‚

  • Haha, the joys of hobbies always seem like you never have enough room. We'll I'll certainly be looking forward to see those diamond paintings, also 4 pcs holy crap dude. Impressive, I plan in building my own PC once my lawsuit and settlement is over an done with. I know nothing about that stuff lol. I would love to have a garage to work out if or spare room

  • I started small but my first diamond painting is a little haunted house model.

  • These are really cool. How are these pieces been created? Im confused? none of these look like pieces of paper stuck together.

  • @MonkeyNeedsAHug
    Oh awesome!!

    @4cuddles
The print has an adhesive on it and you use a tool to place rhinestones to the paper.

  • I LOVE diamond paintings @CharlieBear ! My kids and I have done a few....and now that they're more busy, I still do them whenever I have a few mins 😜

Here's one me and my older 2 did a couple years ago 😎

  • @CharlieBear ah thank you. Will look into it, looks relaxing too.

  • That's a great one @MonkeyNeedsAHug ! I bet it took a looooooooong time to do ☺️ But it's so pretty!

  • I never knew this was a thing. When I first passed by, I was thinking these were cross-stitching pictures (i know now they aren't). And then I was confused because I didn't realize people called cross-stitching diamond pictures (I realize now that they don't...probably).

And then I blew up the pictures πŸ’₯ and then realized what I was actually really seeing. These look pretty cool.

  • After reading this thread back in September, I went on Amazon to find a cute diamond painting, and boy was I in for it...

They are stunningly beautiful. And so time-consuming... I haven't been able to decide which one to buy, yet. πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

  • I've seen these, it could probably be worked out on the computer, via assigned grid pattern (the way a digital csv is read) then resolved on paper, sounds cool. Every pixel on any image has a number. I imagine you match the number referenced to your paper.

Now that I've taken the fun out of it, I certainly will try! lol

Kind of looks like a low res video game image.

What if these were done as multiple pieces on glass and stacked vertically? You could experiment with z depth then.

  • OMG! @CharlieBear ! I didn't notice the little diamonds on your house when I commented before. That's so cool (cool when I didn't see them too), I had no idea there was diamond projects like that too! 😎
Now I gotta make a trip to Michael's or somewhere hahaha

  • @RedFox16
Oh yeah! To get my feet wet I got that little haunted house and some marvel stickers. Now I am doing a full size poster print lol

    My progress so far:

  • @Dance_Culture
Yeah it is like a low res picture where you are placing the diamonds for each pixel. Each color has an associated symbol so you know where to stick each color on the paper.

In the photo I added above, I have these wax paper squares that I stick to the print to keep dust from getting in the adhesive. Then I peel one square paper off and focus on that throughout the day when I have a moment to spare.

  • That is really, really cool. How do these things typically take? (Out of curiosity)

  • Ohhh man I have to dig them out I’ve probably done about 50 or so.. mostly Coraline themed for my daughter

    Lately we have been painting!

  • @wanacuddle85
omg I love coraline. I’d want Neil Gaiman and Studio Ghibli diamond paintings all over my walls

  • @SunsetSnuggles
If you settle on one be sure to show me!
