This is Computer Dreams. Released in 1988 and it showcases computer graphics that was revolutionary at the time.
I owned a VHS tape collection of a similar series called The Mind's Eye: A Computer Animation Odyssey. (1990)
Back when MTV was still about music. I always liked this video.

I see it came out in 96, but in 96 I had a monochrome 386 sx20 with a monochrome display and a 14.4k Internet connection lol

The Yankovic version is from the movie UHF. Well worth watching if you haven't already. Still well worth watching even if you have.

@interalia626 It looks realistic because they hired Stanley Kubrick to fake the moon landing. But it was very expensive to do, since he insisted on filming on location.

... it just seems that way because today, with powerful software and other technology, we can't seem to pull off what they did back in 1969 with slide rules and #2 pencils.

That reminds me of the first time I saw CG on TV. It was partly made by Daniel Langlois who created Softimage that was used on the first Jurassic Park.
