@Auroradream Just another case of a dear diary dump
I think the definition of ghosting varies widely in this discussion.
I think it was agreed on in prior similar threads, and also mentioned here again, that ghosting is abandoning an ongoing conversation (whether it's a serious conversation regarding a plan to meet or not) and that ignoring one's initial message is not ghosting.
@Auroradream and yes, it is ironic that the OP is ghosting a discussion about ghosting that he himself initiated.
Kind of a strange term to use when you really think about it-Since "Ghosts" usually appear and make contact and let their presence be known.
They also tend to come back many times-not leave never to be seen or heard from again.
@Sooson yeah i believe what's been agreed upon but it's not how it's being used, at least from what i can tell. But it's not a huge matter. Maybe just me.
Call the ghostbusters.
@craM
Why they didn't include this song in either of those film adaptations, I will never know. 😄👍
Also a remake should happen, without Nick Cage please.😏😊
@Mike403 Lol! Which one? We have so many now...😄🤷
OH hell with it, let's call them all! 😆👻😆👻
I think it's awful that with no tension or anything people book appointments and then delete their accts? I've told others no, then have to scramble because it says user deleted and I don't want to pay the fee!
@moveandgroove that's something to suggest in the "Ways to improve the site" thread. When someone deletes or deactivates their profile, the appt should be automatically cancelled (by them). That way, the Pro isn't charged.
@moveandgroove you don’t have to pay the fee. Go into the booked session and cancel the appointment due to account being deleted and no session took place. Or something similar to that.
I wonder is some people double and triple book just to secure a meet and then just pick one (or drop one after they secured what they believe is a better match)
I think it's awful that with no tension or anything people book appointments and then delete their accts?
And maybe some create another account so they can cancel an appointment if they so wish, with no consequences to the reputation of their "real" account.
I think the triple booking is highly plausible @Sooson. I just got ghosted today with a No Show. No Explanation.
"Sounds good, see you soon" on Friday.
Today I say "I'm on my way"... nothing.
15 minutes later... "I'll need to know where to go"... nothing.
I wait. And wait. And then wait some more. "I've waited over an hour past our agreed upon time for you to tell me anything at all. If something came up just let me know. " ... nothing.
Ugh.
@RiverBreeze I was actually thinking of clients when I made my comments since I was reacting to recent comments by @moveandgroove and @Ineedahugortwo but for sure, you can easily copy that theory to pro cuddlers as well.
and in case you are interested, I recently explained how such ghosting by a pro is often handled/ what the process is.
Step 1: You leave a negative karma mentioning the no-show Step 2: She makes an excuse. Step 3: Negative karma removed.
in general, the way I see it is expect absolutely nothing and there is no appointment until you see the mental midget you scheduled to meet at the door. and this applies to both sides since both sides ghost and flake.
@Sooson: I guess both sides (are capable) of flaking out but I wouldn't want to waste another person's time. Call it conscience. So there is an expectation by me when I use personal leave for the time and travel 20 miles for an appointment. This has happened a few times w various "PROS" now. So yeah it's a contention point. And that there is really no recourse or consequences but primarily just validating excuses and enabling this behavior is all the more frustrating.
@RiverBreeze The term "pro" is misleading and sets expectations that may not be met. In concept they are no different than Door-dash drivers. Most are just everyday people trying to make some extra money on the side Clock in and out whenever you want, pick the orders you want and ditch the others.
Yes, I get your frustration. I think negative Karma for ghosting / flaking should not be removed. the receiver of the karma can tell their side of the story and that should be sufficient. And if they turn out to be a serial storyteller then the market will handle them appropriately.
@starrynitecuds - This site will not allow you to deactivate when you have a session booked. I tried it once. I had already exchanged contact info with the pro I had booked and I was still going to keep the session (and had notified her I was keeping the appointment even though I was deactivating my profile for other reasons). However, when I tried to deactivate I instantly got a notification that I could not deactivate while I had a session booked.
I do not know if the same is true about deleting an account while having a session booked.
It happens…
@JohnR1972 From what pros here are saying, a client deleting their account IS allowed when a session is booked, but you're saying that as a client, you weren't allowed to deactivate your account when you had a cuddle booked? Sounds like it's still something for a Pro or client to think through and lsubmit to the Ways to Improve This Site thread. (I'm not an engineer, I don't know it all.)
@starrynitecuds - Agreed. My experience was about a year and a half ago so it is possible things may have changed since then. I just assumed (always dangerous) that since the site wouldn’t let me deactivate with a booked session that it wouldn’t let someone delete with a booked session.
@RiverBreeze What happened to you is really not okay and disrespectful.
If that's the way that karma and critical feedback/reviews is handled here then IMO it's problematic because people need to be held accountable for their behavior somehow.
On both sides, it's rude and disrespectful to just drop off a conversation or not show up when there's an agreement to meet with no explanation but particularly when it comes to offering a service like this, that is unprofessional and harmful.
This helps explain why I see so few critical reviews. I think they should only be removed for exceptional reasons and sparingly. If the reviews represented aren't fully honest, then no wonder why there's so much distrust and worry about booking a session with someone.
I've also experienced a lot of ghosting on the pro side with clients just dropping off no communication (or deleting their accounts right after starting a conversation or booking request) and it's difficult to manage when trying to be responsive to multiple people.
I let people know if it's not a fit for me to talk or meet up. It's hard to understand where someone's coming from if they don't let me know what the issue is or ask clarifying questions.
Ghosting is garbage!
No one has ever ghosted me because no one (except pros asking if I want their business) has ever inboxed me in the first place.
The worst thing for me is when I'm texting an enthusiast, and things are going really well, but everytime I send a selfie on their request they ghost me. This happens pretty much every time I send a picture. I was just blocked the other day. I understand nobody owns me anything, but is it that hard to say you aren't interested? Am I that ugly that you dont want to even bother saying bye?
I set my boundary but if they continue to be disrespectful I would block them
Ghosting in the world, in general, is rampant.
