@Joe82_ - I was laid off more than 7 months ago. I applied for 600 jobs and been to 45 interviews. All of them either ghosted me or told me they went with another candidate. I'm not even trying to get a high paying job. Even Walmart rejected me.
The increase in domestic (US) crude oil production is thanks to the introduction of fracking around 2010.
But there's a bottle neck due to lack of piping infrastructure and new refineries to process our domestic oil.
So we have to export domestic oil while importing foreign oil.
Price controls on the pros. Nothing more than "X" per hour. None of this non-sense of "texting" companionship for hundreds dollars an hour. None of these "calls" or virtuals for hundred dollars an hour. Over nights for $1500-$2000. 3 hour dinner dates for $500. These are all ludicrous, embarrassing, and nefarious options on a site solely for cuddling. You'll weed on the grifters/sex workers and have more people who just want to cuddle. Side note I'm all for what 2 consensual adults do on their own time, just don't advertise it. IMO, these changes would be "recession" proof.
Price controls aren't necessary. Nor is forbidding virtual or texting services.
As cuddle consumers, we can simply choose those Pros whom are offering the services we want, at the prices we like.
The rest will sort itself out naturally.
Even though I often have the luck of Job on here, I certainly hope this site survives!! I remember reading that when it began, there were no "pros"-- only enthusiasts. Social dynamics being what they are, the addition of paid services was a natural outgrowth of the ratio on here, I think. Hopefully, there will be adjustments made that will allow it to continue!
No matter what the economy or society-at-large does or goes through, Touch is a HUMAN need. Platonic Cuddling fill a very real need, and is becoming increasingly known and accepted. For those of us who have unusual situations or conditions, this site has been a real boon to our existence!!! I, for one, would LOVE to see it not only survive, but thrive, in the possibly difficult years to come!
@sin67 Many many countries do a better job with their health care than Canada. USA is not one of them obviously, but please don't tell people that canada is good because it just makes them think that socialized health care is bad and that's not the case.
I thought the site had survived recessions before, at least one. It's been here several years.
I suspect this site will be fine whether there is a recession or not.
@justwanthugs i don't claim to have any wisdom on unemployment, the economy or any of that. What i do know is that the OP was about the site and what's been discussed is trends and economy, crud oil , social security, Medicare and the Dow jones. I mean i don't know what you think all that is but it's fairly political. But if you think that's cuddly talk have it homie.

While the economy can be influenced by actions taken by the President and Congress, what we are discussing here is what’s happening now economically and what we expect in the short term. Yes, the election will make a difference, but that’s the result of market expectations based on policy. Again, no political discussion here. No mods have stepped in, because they haven’t needed to. Relax.

@justwanthugs my guy my feet are up, I'm eating corn chips and the remote is in my lap. I'm pretty relaxed. I see we don't agree because all of those things are political, election aside. I don't think anyone mention that but you but thanks for introducing the president in the non political conversation. Hey, if you care cuddles are all good over here, how are they for you? Hopefully none of this affects CC so cuddles can at the very least stay the same, but better is what I'd prefer for all of us. 😏
@Midnight01 well... for a weekend cuddle session I'm putting some vegan autumn chili in the crockpot and combining that with cuddles while it cooks. Only 3 hours (also discounted) and home cooked food. Pittsburgh is a fantastic city for dining and I also enjoy showing that off to people who visit.

To address the OP's concern, I don't think this site is going to be negatively affected at all, and the demand for cuddles will increase.
We can necro this thread in 2 or 3 years to see what, if anything, has changed.

I do agree that this site will thrive and only become more popular since the economy is supposed to improve. It will then become more affordable for those wishing to hire Pros. I’m just in a very different situation than nearly all of you, at an age where income won’t likely increase due to aging & health problems. I just hope you all are prepared for your 70’s, 80’s & 90’s!
Recession? On the contrary the economy is going to be shooting up, up, up! Lots of optimism in the business community. And those other sites close down because lack of clients and lack of cuddlers. Also those sites don’t have reviews or beyond rudimentary search functions. This site will continue to thrive as well!
@g_w_t_w Income can increase into retirement and during as well. See my comment earlier in this thread. People need to plan and save. Compounding interest is the 8th wonder of the world (i dont remember who said that)
@g_w_t_w Hopefully this doesn’t get me thumped for being political… but no one is truly prepared for retirement. I’m concerned for all of us. Social security is an unfunded ponzi scheme that needs future inputs for current obligations, and all politicians see us as revenue sources for their programs. Increased taxation should never be easy but it’s often the first resort regardless of party.
@lovingspoonfull I appreciate your comment and I don’t take it as political at all. I think I just am feeling too down and need some good caffeine and creative ideas for side hustles to produce extra income. And I think concerns about future SS and any entitlement programs being available for the aging population are legit but I’m not as knowledgeable as many of you and too much of a worrier lately.
