@ReltvlyCanshes Wrong. None of those things are political. They may be the result of policy from a party in power, but a lot of these things are rarely done on one side only. Again, monetary policy is from the Federal Reserve, not political. The president I’m referring to is not a specific person, but whomever holds the office. No politics here. Stop looking for things that aren’t there, and enjoy your corn chips. Have cuddles and talk about more pleasant things.
However you feel to consider these things you seem to want to get into a match of words around civics. I am going to explain once again i have no desire to discuss any of these with you. Carry on with your pontificating on civics, economics or whatever and allow me not to be involved wise man. I come hear to speak of pleasant things. Enjoy @justwanthugs
Not so much about will the site survive.
When talking about unemployment, people often forget about the job participation rate, which means the number of people who want/are willing to work. This number will continue to go down as boomers retire.
Hand in hand with employment shortages is legal immigration, which has been hurting for some time and is on the decline despite which administration we are talking about. We offer more hate than hope for people who want to come legally.
I don’t think there’s a lack of demand in general from guys trying to meet up with girls here nor will there be. That being said, prices are getting kind of steep. $150 a hour is getting pretty common. Three hour sessions are very common. Then they want travel fees and tips. That’s like 50% more than the mortgage in my first house 20 years ago lol. Been seeing $285 per hour. I can tell you that at this point I just wish I could find a steady cuddle buddy that didn’t charge a car payment every time we met. Doesn’t take long and it gets hard to justify.
Other issue worth mentioning is that pros are being signed up left and right. At some point there may be a supply and demand issue that might mess with the going rate, not sure.
This thread is named “I wonder if this site will survive the recession.” That title presupposes there will be another recession in the near future.
Discussion of the employment rates, stock market performance, and investor mood (optimism or pessimism) in inherently related to whether a person believes we are headed for a recession as these are all economic indicators.
My reading of the “tea leaves” is that investors are optimistic and the likelihood of a recession in the near term is low. Whether someone agrees or disagrees with my assessment is irrelevant but my assessment is relevant to the title of this thread.
About a month ago I attended an event where the keynote speaker was a recently retired Regional President of the Federal Reserve and he expressed optimism about 2025 and listed his reasons, none of which had anything to do with this week’s the election.
I hope that the following is true - if interest rates drop, more people will buy houses, rental cost goes down. Is that how it works? Is that one way the economy will improve?
@g_w_t_w
if interest rates drop, more people will buy houses, rental cost goes down. Is that how it works??
Not necessarily, this is a very complex question and there are many factors that govern housing / rental costs. The largest factor is supply and demand. If you compare housing prices between a city that is growing because people are moving there vs housing prices in a city that is shrinking because people are moving away, the prices will be cheaper in the city that is shrinking.
High interest rates are another factor because they drive up the cost of mortgage payments and the landlord will always pass these costs along to the renter. Who owns the rental houses is also a factor. I’ve known quite a few landlords over the years who own 1 to 20 houses that they manage and rent to tenants.
However, there is a relatively new phenomenon where major Wall Street companies are buying up single family homes, often offering above market value to the sellers. This is contributing to higher housing costs in many areas. There is an effort underway in Washington DC to pass legislation to stop Wall Street from buying up neighborhoods and becoming corporate landlords but that subject quickly turns into a political discussion as it involves legislation and political battles among legislators.

"There is an effort underway in Washington DC to pass legislation to stop Wall Street from buying up neighborhoods and becoming corporate landlords..." This makes my heart sing!!! How the hell haven't there been some sort of RICO charges levelled against these rotten criminals??? Oops... political... Again, before we were plucked off the land and herded into cities, we could build our own houses and grow our own food. Now, we're often homeless and hungry... while these f*ckers get to buy up alllll of the homes and rent them back to us at exorbitant rates!!!
Thank you, @JohnR1972 , for just posting this. I AM SOOOOO GLAD TO KNOW THIS!!!
I AM BELIEVING FOR THIS.. Those who know, please join in, lock faith/belief/Power... SEE this legislative correction HAPPEN, and people relieved at finally being able to afford housing, WHICH SHOULD BE A NATURAL HUMAN RIGHT!!!
