A core constituency among the people decrying excessive flagging are the same people that continue to violate the site’s rules.
One in particular will lace every other comment with dog whistles and coded speech that is calculated to place his political adversaries in a bind. Either we leave his comments to stand uncontested - a win for his political views. Or else we get drawn into the discussion. In the latter case, we get accused of adding fuel to the fire and/or excessive flagging.
This individual knows the rule and flouts it.
Why is he allowed to keep doing this?
I’ve asked for guidance from the mods on this numerous times and have yet to receive any.

Comments about someone not being 100% in control of their own hands/appendages may seem creepy.... and to be a safety issue.

I really don't like how this took a turn towards attacking someone.
When you post a screenshot of something that was said many months ago, that remains creepy, no matter what the context. Makes me wonder what other screenshots have been taken and are being held in reserve.
@IronLemon A forum screenshot is creepy to you, but not to me. These forums are wide open to read by ANYONE on the internet, not only members. They show up in Google searches, too. Many people here erroneously believe that since their profile is set to "private," their forum comments are also not public. I've advised several people via DM that they may want to edit a comment because of this and they were thankful I let them know.

I mean maybe they can have it handy it just do a quick site search and it's right there to be screenshot and used to remind you.at least i think so. I'm glad no one has done that to me because im quick to forget what i said 20 minutes ago....
I might be upset if someone screenshotted a private conversation and posted it in the open forums. But saving someone's public posts isn't creepy. One should assume that anything one posts publicly can and will be used against the person later, by someone, sometime, somewhere.
Isn't this practice called "savings receipts"?
And i don't think saving them is required because they are there

I don't have a screenshot of the screenshot being posted, though, because I'm not a creep.
@IronLemon I'm not afraid of being reminded what I said yesterday or 6 months ago. Honesty and accountability matter for integrity. Here's one that'll scare you: random strangers, who aren't even members here and even government agencies all over the world can be screen-shotting these wide-open-to-the-public-for-viewing forums all day long and you won't know. Right now, Google already does it.

@IronLemon you seem to just want to be angry about something, using your words to remind you of things you've said doesn't seem to be an issue to me. I mean you said it, why would it bother you if you are accountable and intentional in your words? I mean it's publicly available unless you're talking about private conversations. I mean grabbing something that's already there seems much more likely than collecting all the things you say in here to use later. I mean why save it when the site does. I mean i agree, that fighting in a public forum and looking for receipts is weird but so is engaging in those types of fights, so there's that. But you seem to keep a mental log of what others are doing as well so i don't see much difference, that's a lot of data to keep in your mind on another person, especially if you don't particularly care for that person. I guess you can call it creepy i just call it a waste, kinda like me even commenting on this.

I'm intrigued how it's a "higher standard" when you're unhappy about being held accountable or responsible for what you say. That's known as deflecting, projecting and denial, which are well-established narcissistic behaviors, not "higher standards."

Nowhere have I said I'm afraid of being held accountable. I have said that the behavior is creepy. That is all. Nothing else. I don't know why you seem so determined to twist this into something it's not.
A couple things I guess I'm not understanding about this thread: Unless you are a mod / admin how do you know who is flagging your posts? Is there a way to know that or find out?
And I don't understand how screenshotting posts is "creepy" behavior? Even if its from awhile ago. Isn't that how you can pinpoint the conversation ? So there's less confusion?
Anyways, one observation I have is that after you been here awhile, some frequent posters can be... ( IDK if hypocritical is the right word ?) inconsistent in their posts. ( I've posted a lot over the years so maybe I'm the one that's inconsistent or hypocritical in my posts 🤔)
Some people simply announce their flags like it's a badge of honor.....that's what i picked up on.

Who determines what is considered excesssive flagging? Is there a limit?
