Time out and banned

[Deleted User]ritey99 (deleted user)

I rarely read the forums so my apologies if this has been discussed previously. I was going through my inbox and noticed someone I've talked to before is in time out. Then I scroll to the bottom of our chat history and it says she's banned. I've seen this before where it says someone is banned and paused.

I understand each category, but how can you be in two different categories at the same time? Just curious, not anything I'm worked up over. Thank you for any clarification you can provide.

  • I suspect she said a political opinion on the forums. Either that or she was providing non platonic services. Either way I would stay away from these people

There are loads of reasons people get placed in time out other than voicing political opinions. And fairly easy to stay away from someone who's been banned.

  • @WriterGF I obviously meant I wouldn't talk to the type of people that has political opinions or is a prostitute. At least on here

  • I don't know, but I suspect it's just a minor coding issue. That particular timeout field isn't being updated by the banned flag, and will stay on 'timeout' until the timeout is ended. Which of course in this case will never happen.

@ritey99 The simple answer to your question is no, you cannot be in time out and banned at the same time. Time out normally means you broke TOS somehow in the forums. In this case, maybe the person was initially put in time out and then continued to break the rules and got banned.

Paused is different. Paused is normally something you see on pro accounts when there is some issue that needs to be resolved, like payment method. A paused account will normally come back, unless the issue simply cannot be resolved or some kind of fraud is discovered, etc.

  • WriterGF was incorrect. Looking at my messages, I see one cuddler marked as Timeout, but when I open those messages it says they are banned at the bottom of the screen and can’t be contacted.

  • @BigSpoon66 - Timeout is a temporary ban. Being both temporarly and permanently banned at the same time makes no sense.

  • I’ve noticed the same thing several times with different people.
A conversation was going on, and on the main page listed for the messages where all messages are, it says, “timeout.”

Then when clicking on the conversation to see the conversation history with the person, it says, “banned.”

Same person. Same conversation. Two different statuses shown. Makes me wonder if that person was placed on a break so-to-speak by an admin, but then the ban is seen, so then wonder if they’ll be back or not.

  • I have seen an enthusiast account be paused how is that possible if they don't take payments

  • @FutureHeart2023 I've seen that happen when they are an untagged pro

  • [moderator] This happens because the timeout feature is built on the restrictions of a ban - except that it's temporary - but the wording was not changed in all of the places when the feature was added.

If you send me a message with the username in question, I can verify this.

  • That is kind, cheeseboy. And thank you for the explanation. It’s had me stumped when I’ve seen it.

  • Update: the above explanation is what happened - the account is actually on timeout.
