Empathic abilities

Are there any empaths that will like to share their stories? How long have you had this ability and how has it affected your life? How can this be used during cuddling?

All my life I was able to pick up on other people's emotions, especially if they were strong like anger or hatred towards me. I want to start expanding these powers of perception, but I'm not sure where to start. I have always had latent psych abilities, ever since I was a child. After conducting rigorous scientific experiments, I found I was able to predict whether a coin will be heads or tails correctly 54.3 % of the time, which is statistically significant. I'm not sure if this ESP sensitivity will actually translate into being an empath.

  • I don't think I'm an empath, i feel like I'm highly empathic to others plights sometimes. But i find i don't catch hints to well when someone dislikes me or maybe i have blind spots for people i like.

  • I can't say about empathic. I do have strong pattern recognition abilities. I can read people's body language and microexpressions. If it's familiar enough, I may know immediately what it means, otherwise it may take a few days for me to process.

An example is someone I was cuddling with a while back. I was caressing her too, and my hands were always exactly where she wanted them, to the point she was starting to worry I was reading her mind. But I just did what felt right. I was almost certainly reading her body language.

Though I also have on occasion sensed someone nearby before I could see them. And if I'm giving someone a massage, I can usually feel the muscle knots without even touching them.

LOL! I don't know if you're making fun of him or me (or why not both), but I laughed.

    =) =) =) oh, I needed that laugh

I was able to predict whether a coin will be heads or tails correctly 54.3 % of the time

Interesting. Do you get similar results with cards? Was just thinking that difference ought to be enough to win over the long haul at blackjack tables.

  • I don't know if it is empathic ability... but 2 years ago when my mom had a stroke and started losing her ability to speak, I went to visit her. By the end of the trip, I was having difficulty speaking too. I could feel my tongue and mouth not working properly. When I got back home, my normal speech patterns returned.

  • I’ve studied holistic health for years and have always been an empath. I definitely use it in my sessions. Use it to see when someone just needs to be held tightly or needs more of a lighthearted playful session, use it to know if they need to talk some things out or if they need silence or maybe music as a distraction. Cuddling is an exchange of energy. It can be exhausting for someone to absorb negative energy or to send out positive energy. I often will place my hand on a clients chest or back or shoulder and just concentrate on healing or sending light and love. Often they let out a sigh and a deep breath and suddenly their whole body will relax. There is a lot of healing in touch, in sensory touch, platonic touch, playful touch, warm and loving touch, breath work … they all have power.

  • Sorry but I don't believe in magic

  • Sorry but I don't believe in magic

@pmvines What?!! I want you to be joking. 😅

  • @sage91436 are there any other areas of your life that this comes in handy? Do you accidental ever pick up negative emotions from people around you ?

  • @pmvines how do you explain my experiments I did a as a child then? Most of the times I guessed over 50% correctly

  • @pmvines I knew you were going to say that 😉

  • Yes I’m a deep empath to everything that breathes. I can feel either the pain or comfort of others n the times I was close to a human or animal the hugs or the pats were done in empathetic way so that there be only peace n relaxation.

  • Even the government has released info on power of energy and manifesting. But you do have to believe it for it to work. @Mike102 yes you can pick up bad energy/emotions it’s why it’s important to learn how to protect and cleanse your own self. Feel free to message me
If you want to chat about it off forum.

  • Magic is merely the unexplained.

  • My favorite empath is Drew Barrymore in "Firestarter." Bonfire cuddling! 🔥

  • People also give off pheromones depending on their emotional state. It's possible to pick up on those.

Recently at school, an RD got up in the morning and didn't know why there was such a strange atmosphere on campus. Something was very obviously wrong that affected everyone. Then she looked at the news and immediately understood.

    For the curious

  • @Mike102 just because your results were statistically significant doesn't mean you're psychic. if your results are significant with a p value of 0.01 for example, that just means that there's a 99% chance you didn't get lucky. but since there's billions of humans, there's actually tons of people that would get a statistically significant result from guessing coin flips through sheer luck 😊

  • I grew up in a chaotic family and was conditioned to be hyper-vigilant for anything unusual or unexpected because that often preceded danger. As I grew older and was less dependent on others, I was no longer in fear for my life when the unexpected happened. But, the hyper-vigilance was hard wired into my nervous system.

Reading a room and reading people for me is unconscious and automatic. As an adult I learned about psychology and human behavior, added understanding and compassion to my hyper-vigilance, and became a social worker.

So, am I an empath? Some people consider me to be so. I feel “energy” and I read “energy” but it’s not magic. While my “empathic intuition” is usually accurate, it’s not full proof and I have learned to not trust it without some additional verification.

  • @Warm_embrace you've explained what I wanted to add much better than I think I would have been able to.

I have noticed that most people who could be considered 'empaths', usually have had similar childhood or had to be overly concerned with/ for others, their feelings, needs, get so good at it, it becomes hard wired. Can be a good survival skill just as much as it can be unhealthy.

  • @4cuddles Here is an article that explains it better than me.

    https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6169872/

  • More on coin flipping :
If you held a playoff style coin flipping competition, let's say 20 rounds, which will require about a million participants if I calculated correctly, one person will guess correctly 20 times in a row, another one will guess 19 times in a row, two more will make 18 strait correct guesses etc..Point is its just a coin flip and the odds guessing correctly is 50% and independent of prior results. So guessing better than 50% means nothing.

  • @Sooson and @zalea yeah but I did it multiple times, and half of the time I got majority correct .

@mike102 To farther make my point on this entertaining non-issue, i would say that the odds of guessing 46% correctly are the same as guessing 54% correctly. So guessing 46% would be just as "successful "

  • @warm_embrace Hypervigilance is kind of a superpower that comes at a high price.

  • @Mike102 I don't doubt the veracity of your tale, but it's very unlikely that you can predict coin tosses for four unrelated reasons.

    1) As a general rule, if a human is doing an experiment on themself, it ain't science. (In fact it's extremely difficult to do science on working human beings in any circumstances.)

    2) It is improbable that your experiments were genuinely scientific. Such an investigation would require, at the very least; an independently calibrated and operated machine that produces 50-50 coin tosses reliably; a fresh coin for each toss; and an independent observer who objectively recorded each prediction before the toss. And of course a pre-experiment to prove that the chosen coins do in general produce 50-50 results.

    3) If a million people repeated your experiment, a whole bunch of them would obtain the same 54% result. A bunch more would get 53%, and a bunch fewer would get 55%. The biggest bunch would be in the 49%-51% area, but the whole thing would be something close to a normal distribtuion (aka bell curve). If you had a big enough population and a small enough number of tosses, somebody would get 100% and somebody else 0%. If the same people then repeated the experiment, most of them would get a completely different result. A few would get exactly the same result.

The fact that there was no million other people when you did your experiment is irrelvent. Sure, they didn't exist practically, but they do exist statistically.

    4) Even if all the above was false, your experiment only proved you were able to predict coin tosses on that particular occasion. It does not provide evidence that you could do it on another occasion.

  • @IronLemon it is a costly superpower indeed.

  • Be careful, somebody will start charging an “empath fee” on top of their cuddling and travel fees lol 😂

  • @SeekerInVA And an addition 2% charge for looking in the mirror twice.
