Question for pros

edited November 2024 in Pro Cuddling

I recently booked a session with a cuddler and everything seemed fine, communication was great and all that. I book a hotel room and she ends up cancelling our session 15 minutes before our start time saying she had an emergency and had to cancel. Okay, things happen I get it, but now I'm out the price of a hotel room. I text her back the following day and ask her if I book another session would she take off the price of the room from her booking fee and she seemed to get kind of mad and said absolutely not. I've never had a cuddler cancel on me before so I'm not sure what the etiquette is regarding this. If any pros in here could maybe let me know if they've been in this situation and how they've handled a cancellation, especially so close to the start time of the session when the client is on the hook for the price of the room. Was my request unreasonable?

Edit - to clarify, the room was $90.

  • Not unreasonable at all! However, as I have no idea where you are, you may be in an area where hotel rooms cost $200, thus the pro would be cuddling for free, unless you book a multi-hour session. So it could get a bit complicated.

In general, this industry operates on a double standard; clients are often expected to pay a deposit and forfeit it should they cancel too soon to the appointment, whereas pros are expected to be forgiven last minute changes and never pay a deposit to book with a client. It's understandable, but certainly frustrating. I myself have never had this challenge, as I am often in a hotel anyway while traveling, so if I get canceled on (as it happened to me on Monday), though frustrating, I was not out any money.

If this is someone that you imagine you might want to be a regular of, you may want to approach with a slightly different proposal: ask that the price of the hotel be taken off of this specific session, but that you plan to book regularly should the session go well.....and that you would always pay for the room in the future.

One last possibility could be to ask her to at least join you for coffee for free; spend a half hour to get a sense of each other, and if you're both motivated, get the hotel for the session and be happy to book it. I would give her some opportunity to meet you somewhere in the middle, acknowledging that her late cancellation was costly.

  • As a pro, if I was in this situation, I would apologize for having to cancel and add an extra hour of snuggles to our next session

  • If it were me, I would offer a discount or add an extra hour to a future session.

  • That happened to me in the past and when it did I was SOL, it’s amazing that the pros that do this don’t feel the need to compensate the client at all, and if you mention anything like that they get mad and cut communication off.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think there is a rule or maybe it’s just a suggestion on cancelling within 12 hours are supposed to offer a discount on the next session. I’m not sure sure how that works with a hotel room. Maybe @CharlieBear or @cheeseboy would know better. They are both mods but I feel like morally She should’ve at least offered extra hours or something to make up for the cost of the hotel room, at least half of it..

  • @rve33 - As a client, I'd say that the right thing to do is for her to offer a discounted session or extra time on a regular paid session (2 hours at the rate of 1 hour) so she's still making something for her time.

As a moderator - I looked into this minimally (I can't see your messages as there aren't any open reports from or against you) and your last cancelled booking on the site was in August. So, this raises concerns that the pro may be booking sessions outside of the site which would be a violation of their contract with cc. This is also a red flag that they may be a scammer, especially if you paid a deposit. I encourage you to report them if this is the case.

  • Definitely would add bonus time on the next session. I would 100% want to make it right somehow. 🙏💜

  • This is what the site asks. See point 15.
