Well, this is awkward…

Ugh, I think I made a mistake. I posted a picture of a cuddle buddy and me on Instagram/Facebook, and now everyone thinks she’s my new girlfriend. 😅 Not sure how to respond either…”Oh she’s not my girlfriend, she’s my professional cuddler!” 😂 I’ve only got two close friends who know that such a thing exists.

I didn’t think it would be a big deal because I did the same thing last year and no one thought anything of it.

I’m sure some of you have been in this situation…if so, what did you do? I could just take the picture down but I really like it. And everyone has already seen it anyway. So far I’ve just been telling people “it’s complicated” or “we’re just friends.” 😅

  • Not sure why you’re asking us. You posted her picture, hopefully with her consent. Ask her and then don’t overthink it.

  • It doesn't really require coming out to everybody but you could, or in your case you have. I only tell people I think can handle it. One friend I told asked if she could hold my hand as we talked about it. We ended up cuddling. If you ever get rejected by someone that can't handle it, there's a good chance they'll never tell you.

  • I don’t think I’d ever post a picture in the way you’re describing, seems like a betrayal of trust to the cuddler. If they know about it then I’d recommend to ask them and not a public forum.

If you like the photo why not just keep for yourself, there’s no reason to post it on social media for others to see as it would either invite questions or if it doesn’t that’s the same as keeping it to yourself.

  • If you didn't have her permission I'd say that a big breach of trust and delete the photo and just tell people she's a friend. If she is aware of it, just tell people she's a friend.

  • You didn't say you had her permission, which is a huge concern. I hope she doesn't find out here.
When you post a photo on social media, they have the AI-technology to match it to other people. Depending upon your settings, it may also be search engine -indexed.
She needs to know NOW, because she may not want it out there. She can try to get links removed if it shows up in any searches.
If you can't feel comfortable saying she's just a friend, why did you purposely post a pic with her?

  • Tell everyone she is an enthusiast. Your male acquaintances will deny she exists then.

  • If she’s not aware, you should delete it. I think it’s fair not to lead anyone on though by leaving room for unnecessary questions. The way I see a situation like that is perhaps you get an ego boost from that, which isn’t her problem to fill or be exposed to those comments when she does have a life of her own outside of cuddling you. It’s a big privacy concern when there’s no clarity.

  • I don't think you need to explain anything. Just say something like " no she isn't my girlfriend " i don't think you need to explain beyond that. If pressed for more information "we hang out sometime."

If people care about you and are not just nosy, then i think you'd know that and you'd know you could share what it is. But since you feel it's awkward i tend to get the impression they are not people you want to explain to or are owed any info.

  • First, if she's a paid pro, then you shouldn't be posting her photos publicly without permission. Assuming that she's given you permission, then the only explanation needed to anyone in your world is "she's my friend".

  • Yes I have been there before on fb and I don't think they will ever understand. As much as we want to share with our friends and loved ones they will never get it unless they have a culdde ex experience of their own.

I suppose it could be a way to get the word out to them to join cuddlecomfort.com but somthing tells me this will never be a main stream thing and we should just enjoy what time we have here while it's lasts

  • If you didn’t have permission then like others said you should delete and that’s the end of it. If anyone asks just say my friend didn’t want me to post end of story. Just don’t do it again

If this is that big of a problem for you then maybe some different friends are in order.

  • I agree with @ReltvlyCanshes :

" no she isn't my girlfriend " i don't think you need to explain beyond that. If pressed for more information "we hang out sometime."

  • Why do you feel a need to justify

  • I would delete it. I would answer that she is just a friend if those people ask again. I definitely would not post anymore without the other person’s permission. If she agrees, that’s fine then to post and say she’s just a friend, or whatever you two decide on to say. I’m wondering what you were thinking when you posted it.

  • I didn't see where it was posted without consent . Yeah that's not cool my guy

  • Wow I don’t like pictures …. I’m a very private person . A guy did take a picture of me without asking … (not on the this website…) and Immediately ended things … idk I guess it depends

  • @pmvines i don't think he mentioned it was with out permission. That was only a conclusion jump. He asked what we thought about people asking about it, I'm not sure why we always shame people first. He did mention it wasn't the first time posting her so my assumption would be she is fully aware and ok. But it's possible i missed a comment if he responded to one.

  • Delete the photo and I hope you don't do this again. It's twice now.

  • @billiam did i miss that he said it was without permission? I don't see it in the OP. I think he was asking guidance in regards to his acquaintances not the friend he posted.

  • @pmvines , he hasn't said either way, but since he doesn't know how to react and didn't ask her ("it's complicated" wasn't approved by her, yikes), leads to the belief that he hasn't told her he posted it and didn't have her consent. "It's complicated" implies more than just friendship.

  • @starrynitecuds how did we come to the conclusion he didn't ask her? I'm still trying to figure that out. When he said it's complicated it was talking about to people that don't know her. For all we know she was laying next to him in the cuddle when he posted it.

Oh ok well if it was done with consent he has nothing to explain. Id be more concerned about why people are being nosey and reinforce personal boundaries

  • @pmvines exactly my sentiments

I cuddled and i asked for a picture and got a selfie just before our cuddle, so the bed was in the background. She said sure, didn't ask or instruct not to post it, i would never ever because that ain't me. But i got the impression she wouldn't care either way. So i do think it's a leap based on the OP that he didn't have permission. I think the question he is struggling with is wanting to talk about cuddling to people outside of the site. And my opinion on that is don't, unless you have the type of relationship that you feel you can. Since he doesn't have that relay with the people he is referring to i don't think it's any of those people's business who she is.

Right ? Dude doesn't owe an explanation for the context of his personal relationships nor obligated to assign a definitive title unless he chooses to.

A close person I met from this site and I recently went to New Orleans for a few days. She posted a bunch of pics on her social media but she doesn't like to post ones of her with guys because she knows she'll be accosted about when is the wedding etc. while another friend from here posted a selfie of us on her profile from an Alice Cooper concert. I don't mind because anybody who has visited my profile knows I don't mind my pic being taken, and anybody who knows me knows that I have friends scattered all over the place and it's not uncommon for my pic to pop up somewhere, despite myself not having any social media accounts.

So essentially , if you don't want people asking about the nature of your relationships, then don't post pics of yourself with other people. Otherwise, post them and be willing to tell people you are just friends or that it's none of their damn business

  • If you think you made a mistake, fix the mistake and remove the picture.

    Why this thread?

Can we not make decisions for ourselves, or do we always need to go into committee?

  • What made it awkward was you saying "it's complicated"

  • [Deleted User]gem7 (deleted user)

This is such a non issue, hard to believe its a thread. :/

Seems you posted for said attention you proclaim to be embarrassed about.

Easy enough to say it’s a friend and put it to bed. Instead you’re acting like an over excited teen.

    Pull it together…
