I'll get paid more once I am hired permanently. Temps always make less because the employer has to pay the agency fees. They use them so they can see how the employee performs and decides if they want to keep them.

I completed my orientation. They gave us a crash course on chemistry since we will be working around hazardous chemicals. Also, I'm glad I had my passport since I needed that(or a birth certificate which is who knows where) to prove I'm a U.S. Citizen. A social security card is not good enough.
They manufacture boards for the U.S. Military so only U.S. Citizens are allowed to work there due to ITAR( International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance.
My first actual work day will be tomorrow.

Congrats Mike. I worked for Truck Lite before and it was an ITAR job because some of the parts we dealt with were for military.

I said to the hiring manager, "Forgive me, I have not been a "new hire" in 10 years...Lol! So, I just brought EVERYTHING to show that I am indeed a US Citizen.😄🇺🇲" Lol! 🤣 I brought my SS card, birth certificate, driver's license and and old picture of me at a 4th July bbq wearing a festive red, white and blue dress...For good measure!🤣😂🤣😂

I had my first day at the plant and was observing the drilling area. I didn't really get to do anything myself yet. This is what the drilling machine looks like. The correct program is loaded into the computer and the correct drill bits are loaded into the tool magazine. The machine measures the drill bits in case somebody accidently grabs the wrong one (it'll stop and give an error) and it keeps track of how many times a bit is used. After 200 hits, it automatically discards it and grabs a new one from the magazine since it's drilling into copper and a dull bit will leave a messy hole. One panel could need 6,000 or more holes drilled taking an hour or more so they have several of these machines. They are loud. They have PPE dispensers for things like goggles and ear plugs.

This started teaching me the machine today. This is it in operation. We can't have cameras on the floor so I looked up a similar machine on YouTube. We have to put the correct drill bits in the tool magazines then load them into the machine. It grabs a bit and each one has a limited number of uses(between 50-500 hits depending on the bit) since the bits will get too dull to drill a clean hole. Once the bit reaches its hit limit, it puts a back in the magazine and grabs another one. Once it's done drilling. all the drill bits used are either thrown away for smaller bits and the larger bits can sent for resharpening once. The small bits are extremely sharp and it's easy to stick yourself with it and have a piece of it break off in your skin if you're not careful. They want us to wear gloves while handling them.
Right next to the drilling area is the chemistry lab where they mix certain chemicals together. That looked like a fun area to work in. They gave us a crash course on chemistry during orientation and told us about how mixing the wrong chemicals together will cause things to get interesting very fast and they had to evacuate the plant twice because of that.

I was stabbed by a drill bit on Monday. It went through my gloves like they were nothing. Today I found out I still had a piece of it in my finger. They were able to get it out with a pair of tweezers and had me look at it under a microscope. The small ones are extremely sharp and break easily.
@Mike403 Oh man 😧 ... I'm sorry to hear that. Did you need to see a doctor? Hopefully that doesn't affect you too much from working.
