Racial disparities on this site

I've noticed that African Americans and other people of color charge a lot less then other ethnicities. It is well documented that African Americans make less money then average due to system racism. However I'm confused why this is the case on the site , since the pros decided what rate to change. Are these pros willing to charge less because they have a greater financial need and want more clients? Or is there another factor that I'm missing, such as racism from the site.

  • I believe you have all the answers you need spelled out. Some probably get less traffic therefore the market is dictating price, why do they get less looks? You'll have to answer that for yourself. Some maybe in need of the financial push so they can't afford to wait for appointments. Some maybe value their time less , again there are plenty of reasons for that but I'd say systematically the reasons are the same in all things. This is America and we all know how things can work, there shouldn't be any reason to think this would work any different than anything else. Believe it or not , it will always come down to very few things that manifest themselves in an exponential amount of ways that result in different things.

I'll let yall cook on the reasons you believe, i won't be chiming in again but please understand that Black people are in here and you cannot speak for their experiences unless you've lived a life experiencing what they have. Also to get ahead of some of the conversations, education, being poor, living in an urban area, your parental situation and having been to jail does not give you the incite of being Black. So please keep that to yourself.

That is all @Mike102 I'm not sure if you realize what is going to happen or not, but it's probably going to get stupid, and the next time i chime in will simply to say "stupid" so you all know i think it's gone there.

This is from my personal experience…I think the key factor you’re missing is that pros who charge less simply enjoy cuddling more than those who charge higher rates…has nothing to do with race or racial disparity…again I’m only speaking from my personal experiences that I’ve encountered

Thank you @ReltvlyCanshes. I was thinking exactly this when I read the original post earlier. I wouldn’t even begin to assume I know anything about what a black person experiences and pass it off as insight. I have listened to other black people and their experiences and you know what? Black people are like everyone else; they are individuals who bring unique experiences. To boil anything down to an answer for an entire race is a fool’s errand.

  • Personally I have overcame many life challenges and had much success on this site (with enthusiasts and pros). True we live in a discriminatory world 🌎 but I strive hard to succeed in many areas of life, regardless.

@Mike102 I’ve been noticing a bit of a pattern with your posts. I may be wrong on this one, but I have a theory that you are a soft troll.

What I mean by that is that you post these “poke the bear” topics of a controversial and inflammatory nature, but they are veiled in
your very intelligent and articulate phrasing and presentation.

I noticed this on one of your previous posts and decided not to comment but here it is again. And it also may not help that you are inserting “systematic racism” into the equation and how you assert that into income disparity which is politically controversial and inflammatory in and of itself, which is highly discouraged here.

    -Just a thought.

I lean toward thinking of this as basic "market dynamics." We live where we live. That which is more desired will garner a higher price; that which is less valued will be made available at a lower cost.

I wrote to one fella, about a particularly fun post he made, and we corresponded for a moment. Then, suddenly, he decides to inform me that he thought I was a "scammer." What??? Really??? Is THAT what it's called, these days??? Okay..

I'm an Enthusiast, so I may not be the person who needs to respond here, but I've simply chalked it up to market dynamics. It's not personal--it's just business... in a country with America's history... Period.

I found the same weird imbalance in the Naturist Communities I've visited. Beautiful, amazing experience---but outside of the norm for most people of color. It hasn't been until recently that POC had the discretionary income to participate in certain things, so now that we're investigating them, did we think the old dynamics would just disappear?

Pros fees will be dictated by the market. That which is valued will bring a higher price; that which is deemed as less valuable, will have fees dictated by the lack of interest. It is what it is..

Not sure why a cuddle with a person of color would be deemed to be of "less value." Certainly not the case in my eyes.

  • @Mike102 have you communicated with any of these pros charging what you see as less? They may be busier than pros charging more.

  • [Deleted User]Homesteader (deleted user)

@WriterGF ~ You're right, it isn't technically of less value, and it's beautiful to know that you don't see things that way. When I joined the site, I thought I'd found a perfectly legitimate way of finding people who were just interested in boosting their oxytocin/intellect levels by hugging and squeezing other human beings. Since we weren't trying to "date" or "hook up," I naively thought that this was just a bunch of people who had discovered, like I had, that there were genuine therapeutic effects that came from cuddling! Nothing, however, happens in a vacuum..

It seems like the OP was trying to lasso the giant, ridiculous elephant in the room. We can act like we don't understand, but that's the way things are kept in place. It IS an issue, and so long as people pretend it isn't, the market will CONTINUE to dictate prices.

It's encouraging, though, to know that SOME PEOPLE (especially Enthusiasts!) don't make a distinction between the various groups...so long as warm cuddles and kindness are involved!! As a consumer in a market-driven society, however, I FULLY understand how demand dictates pricing. Capitalism does what it does...

  • Interesting question @Mike102 Almost all the pros who I've met - of any skin color - have been in the same $80 to $120 per hour price range, so I'm afraid that I don't have objective data to support or reject your assertions

  • I’ve not seen a disparity either. Be interesting to see a data breakdown by various indicators, with the addition of total income because price elasticity of demand is a thing, but at least in my experience I’ve seen parity on asking price. Which means it’s all over the place. 😀

And can also add that the value of the experience is what you each bring to it, not the dollars. I’ve had fantastic experiences with enthusiast, pro, and people of several colors.

I have to agree with @Jubal ... in my time here, I have checked out a number of profiles of women of color (and been fortunate enough to make friends with a few) and their prices were in what seems to be the average range for this site. I am sure there are some with lower prices, but I have run across white pros charging $60 an hour, once or twice less. It may be a case of initially charging a lower rate in order to build up business/get karma.

Of a dozen pros of color within 50 miles of me, 9 are charging $100 an hour, one $60, one $70 and one $150.

Maybe, just maybe, it's finally happening. Small, at first, then a wave! :)

I've always said that cats and horses have more sense than humans, but maybe, just maybe we're finally catching up! May it be so for us! :)

  • [Deleted User]Skittlebaggz (deleted user)

I charge less ($80/hr) for the simple reason that I ONLY provide cuddles and snacks. THATS IT. If I was a client, I wouldn’t even consider paying anything over $80. I’ve always questioned why others charge $100+. I totally understand travel, overnight, and late night sessions being a little more but $120 just for a straight up cuddle session??!! 🤣🤣No ma’am, no sir. Like what tricks are you pulling to charge that? I have a full time federal job and I get VA compensation, so I don’t depend on cuddles as a source of income. I’m not greedy that’s why my rates are lower. And tbh, my clientele is mostly white men! Color has nothing to do with prices, I think it’s just an individual choice.❤️

  • [Deleted User]jimmylee (deleted user)

@Skittlebaggz I love the way you think and express yourself. Not only do I scratch my head at those who charge $200 for a cuddle, but in dismay that they have dozens of positive karma. Someone is paying these prices.

  • What is expensive to one person is not to another and does not necessarily mean anything different is going on from an $80/hr cuddle. I am not going to judge one way or the other.

BUT…a lot of the $150/hr cuddlers I see were once $80/hr cuddlers and they still charge me $80/hr. Guess I was on the ground floor and they remember where they came from. But my point is once they become popular they raise prices because they have regulars and don’t want every Tom, Dick, and Harry that rolls up as a client anymore. They have the luxury of being picky.

  • @Mike102 I want to concur with several in response to you.......that my experience does not conform to what you state. One of my favorite cuddlers on the site is mixed race and charges the most of anyone I have seen, and she is simply amazing. She has a full time job, only wants a session or two per week, charges more so there will be fewer inquiries and less vetting. There are many reasons for the price disparity, now seeming to be from $80 up to $250.

From the little market research I have done, I have found that the highest rates are being charged by the pros who consider themselves quite beautiful......regardless of race, age, or ethnicity. I'm certainly not saying that lower-charging pros aren't also beautiful.....they just may not be motivated to charge more on that basis, or so I have been told by both groups.

In the end, where you cuddle, the volume you seek, and your specific skill set will determine your pricing.....

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

Pros charge $100 or more because they can get it. If they were getting no business, they would lower their price or quit the work. And the people charging really high prices, I have found, are happy to just have two or three regular clients rather than dealing in quantity.

  • [Deleted User]Skittlebaggz (deleted user)

@jimmylee thanks suga. Yeah they are paying, it just couldn’t be me. 🤣 Times are tough for some and its right around the holidays, I’m just catering to those that want my gentle touch without breaking the bank.
@TheFunCartel im not judging anyone charging $100+.. And to charge more bc of them getting more clientele is understandable HOWEVER, they don’t have to accept everyone that wants to book. It’s a choice. TBH those are the ones that probably NEED the money. I want it but I’m not stressing about it🤷🏾‍♀️. We all have the right to be choosey 🤣🤣. People get worked up about the amount of karmas one has, I only have 2, but guess what, that still doesn’t stop people from booking with me. 💯💯❤️

As an African-American I'm so sick and tired of this woke nonsense, I don't need anyone to feel sorry for me and I take offensive topeople doing it. We are always being used to promote someone's goofy social or political agenda. You can either afford a cuddle or not. Period

  • If anything it’s probably the more conventionally attractive people of all backgrounds charging more, because that’s what the market will bear in a world that rewards people to a large degree based on appearance.

  • that’s what the market will bear in a world that rewards people to a large degree based on appearance.

So you’re saying Steve Buscemi is an enthusiast.

  • I haven’t seen a disparity most pros charge between 1-150 hr.
Also I’ve see in smaller cities where cost of living is less white pros charge under 100 dollars even several who charge south of 70 dollars. Ao not realistic to make blanket statements about racial disparities systemic this and that.

  • It's true I charge less simply because I know the reality of the situation. A cute blonde will make more than me

  • [Deleted User]Skittlebaggz (deleted user)

    @Janelle19 u are right about that…unfortunately. But it’s okay, WE are good❤️

  • [Deleted User]jimmylee (deleted user)

So many subjective assumptions and conclusions here, it doesn't seem worth it to counter-oppose them. I know the reply will simply be, "Well, that's been my experience."

  • 😨 I have so many words to say . BRB let me gather my thoughts
