somatic. therapy, reiki and trauma recovery

hi all,
before the quarantine times, i was using cuddle therapy as a way to re-integrate after leaving a long term abusive relationship. at the moment i'm really struggling to find another queer platonic non-binary cuddle buddy who is into energy work. the trauma lives deep inside me and so does the general mistrust, especially with cisgendered men. i've been reading alot of Casey Plett's work lately and am starting to think of myself as an "egg". in the "before times" i had no problem hiring a "pro", but now that i live alone without roommates my budget goes mostly to rent so hiring a pro is not a current option.

any other queer/nonbinary/possibly autistic folks also working on trauma recovery here? i miss the once- or twice-a-month grounded chill cuddle sessions i used to schedule. i like to chat and connect with someone online first, and imagine a session listening to super chill dreampop, enjoying hot tea, minimal conversation (i only want to chat about topics outside of the "matrix" iykyk) and meditation on shared reiki energy and vibes. platonic, very very platonic please do not even hint at pushing this boundary please.
what are your thoiughts?
john

  • hey i study somatic therapy! its super interesting isn’t it? i have also found cuddling and the power of touch to be tremendously healing after my abusive relationship. i’m queer as well. we are far in distance but i wanted to say it’s cool to meet another person that speaks my language and knows we are out there.

  • @johnjohnjohn Respectfully, I understand fully about the interest in reiki or energy work and how it is a very specific way to enhance a cuddle or address healing.
In a platonic session, why would my status as cis female make a difference? Specifically, your cuddler would (also need to be) queer and non binary? People I've spent time cuddling with as well as my own children whom I have the greatest love in this universe for would fall into those categories. There are certainly those that can understand or open themselves up to understanding and acceptance on a level and they don't have to be exactly like you. As for me, knowing and spreading love to people especially includes those who have been denied acceptance and are on a journey of self discovery/love.

  • @pmvines matches this description well

  • This should be in the cuddle requests area, since you're really looking for a non pro cuddle buddy. Your preferences aren't really up for debate, since they're not against TOS and you deserve to feel safe, comfortable and able to uphold them. ((Hugs))

I think I’m relatively hip on terms these days but for my own edification what does queer non-binary mean when put together?

  • Moving to cuddle requests. [Moderator]
