Negativity Fast (48hrs of positive)

Anyone ever heard of this? if not then I just made it up. 48 hrs of 100 percent positive vibes only. (Needs to be a week)

People and friends may flake away, cause it's very very difficult. No bad news, no CSI no Batman, no comics, maybe a Disney show.. early Disney.. Andy Griffith maybe? Bewitched?

  • I dont think you can do that for 48 hrs

  • It's a good idea for folks to reduce the negativity in their lives.

But first, you'll need to turn off the television, unplug it, put it in a box, and move it up into the attic.

  • Does it count if you are in a drug-induced sleep for 2 days?

  • I love it! Try to radiate love for a sustained period of time, it's contagious

  • Its called "go fishing". Combine this with "go camping" and its a magical way to reconnect with positivity.

  • It will be tough, but I'm in. I really try my best everyday but i suppose an extra effort wouldn't hurt.

  • It can be done..but is it like being vegan? Cause....

It can be done..but is it like being vegan? Cause....

In the words of Indiana’s best Parks and Rec manager, Ron Swanson, “Fish is practically a vegetable”.

  • I'm down for it.

  • First step before identifying how to sustain positivity is identifying what you deem as negative. From there you will need to categorize what is negative to you in terms of what is manageable and what is not, and what you can live with and what you can't. Because it's not possible to have an all of nothing with positivity or negativity. You can reduce the bad and increase the good to tip the scales and even make one virtually unnoticeable over the other, much like when managing symptoms of a medical condition, but to only have one over the other for any extended period of time isn't emotionally feasible.

I've never heard of it, but even with that, I'm glad you "created" it! I haven't made it a priority to stay constantly positive, but I DO make a conscious, mindful effort to remember that my mood is my choice, at all times. Especially as someone who is negotiating with Seasonal Affective Disorder, I check in with myself, emotionally, often during the day.

After witnessing what one poster rightfully called "unnecessary cruelty," I've noticed that I've become even MORE conscious of the fact that EVERYONE is down here trying to make it. Even though I won't take on the emotional burdens others have chosen to bear, I have committed to NOT adding to them..

LOVE the idea of at least TRYING to steer toward a more positive way of being in the world with all the other Selves! :) I have to agree with @TxTom about turning off that darned television in an attempt to maintain my energy level..

  • Forced positivity feeds negativity. Live it, demonstrate it, don't just preach it to others to do your way. That's actually a negative thing. Some people have stressful jobs, family situations, health conditions and live with real trauma, like abuse.

  • Yes, I totally get this! I actually have a similar practice every Sunday that’s all about forced relaxation and positivity. I start the day with some exercise, follow it up with time at the spa, and end with an intensive yoga session that combines postures, visualization, meditation, and a talk. I also stick to raw/vegan eating full time - it’s such a low-stress, nourishing way to eat. I’ve found that by grounding myself like this, any negativity I encounter feels less personal and more like something I can observe without being affected. I feel like it's important to be able to stay up on reality regardless of the mind set and not get tangled up in negativity.

  • Always look on the bright side of life.

@starrynitecuds Forced positivity on LinkedIn is a real pain. People out of work don't need or want to be told to treat their unemployment like it's a vacation.

Interesting takes here..IMO I put myself in a positive state of mind. You know your body and spirit. Avoiding negative isn't difficult. In fact it's natural. Avoiding negative influence is a little harder with media.

You can can create a downside to just about anything if that is your goal. A positive mindset in some, will almost always bring out or reveal a different mindset in others, that is why this is a personal quest, like fasting food.

The experiment isn't to force others to be more positive, but to present an alternative.

I am trying this fast for 48 hrs at a time by only thinking and doing good. ONLY.

To find out in fact, how good can I be?

So maybe an adjustment in terminology would help in interactions.

-Alone one would take on a positive vibration.
-In dealing with others a more, receptive mindset.

This may help in communicating and avoiding the toxic positivity label that seems to be growing.

    @WriterGF
Being without a job is a pain, telling others to be happy about it is a weak attempt, agreed.

Life always presents us with exceptions that give us the excuses when we need them.

Our job is to create a mental place that ignores reality and allows for us to be at our best.

Create your mental environment or the environment around you will most certainly create yours.
