Take the time

Today someone was talking about a time he to a friend's for dinner. The friend had gotten all the ingredients, but he didn't know how to cook so he didn't know what to do with the ingredients. The night was spent teaching him how to cook. Less than a week later, his friend was killed. So basically, he said, wasted time.

I disagreed. I said the time wasn't wasted, because it gave his friend a moment of joy. Had he not taken the time for that, it would simply have been one less moment of joy in his friend's life. And it gave him a happy memory, and nothing can take that away from him.

Time spent in joy or happiness is never wasted.

  • Definitely not time wasted. Learning something new is never wasted time and giving someone the gift of knowltisnt a waste either. I think it's a waste when it's never intentionally used

  • It's possible that the conclusion of 'wasted time' was just an expression of grief. The anger stage, or something. It's obvious that the time wasn't wasted.

  • As a Buddhist I consider time spent to never be wasted, whether that time is in joy, sadness, frustration, contentment, or anything else.

  • Your time and undivided attention is probably the most valuable thing you can give to anyone

  • Would he say that the food is wasted? Of course not. Time is even more valuable

  • I totally agree, times is precious and valuable and nature gives us time to heal
