Agree. Not the most effective President ever, but certainly one of the best former presidents ever. He and Rosalynn were a great team, and never stopped finding ways to make the world better. A lot of their greatness was rooted in their humility. They did what they did because they could, and because it was right, not for accolades.

The only president to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, as well as the only one to live to be 100. Although he only served one tumultuous term, he secured the Egyptian-Israeli peace accord in 1978, earned a Nobel Peace Prize, and went on to become an advocate for the political rights of the Palestinian people. Lastly, his humble servant leadership for decades with Habitat for Humanity ensures his place as one of the greatest and most humble figures of the past century. A true hero.

Now back to what it was meant to be A tribute to a former president which I'm sure we all are totally fine with.
Yes this is a thread about Jimmy Carter's good points. His bad points may be saved for another website.
And a reminder that this is a British website. Absolutely nobody over here really understands American domestic politics; nor cares. My observation is that as a consequence this site is completely neutral on such matters.
Individual Moderators - predominently American, as are the site users - may have views on American politics one way or another, but remember that they have especially selected for their ability to be fair and even-handed.
The cuddling community, both this site and in general, is open and welcoming to everybody. If you are not, you may imagine bias where none exists.

I believe he was a good man who was motivated by good intentions. I also believe he lived an exemplary life after leaving office - moving away from DC and focusing on making the world a better place through his volunteer work.

My political views on him or anyone else are neither relevant nor appropriate in a forum that prohibits political discussion. If I want to discuss politics related to the former President, there are loads of places on the web to do that.
Well, he was the first President that I was aware of as a kid. He wasnt a very effective President, but he was a decent human being ("decent" as in a good, kind man - y'know, "traditional values" like George Bailey).
RIP and peace to his family
He loved everybody, regardless of political party. Reaching across the aisle regardless of whether he had their support for the greater good and not treating them as your adversaries or the enemy is a quality befitting of a great human.

He truly was a better man than we, in the US, deserved. Although his presidency may not have succeeded in making the world a better place, his servant leadership certainly made the world better for many. Descanse en paz Presidente Carter.
