Depression

I know depression is not well understood by most people, including people who suffer from it. Here's a game I found a while back that tries to explain it.

http://www.depressionquest.com/

Depression Quest is an interactive fiction game where you play as someone living with depression. You are given a series of everyday life events and have to attempt to manage your illness, relationships, job, and possible treatment. This game aims to show other sufferers of depression that they are not alone in their feelings, and to illustrate to people who may not understand the illness the depths of what it can do to people.

I tried playing it, but didn't get very far. It's too realistic for me.

I didn't get very far with Depression Quest either. What worked for me was repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).

  • @gem7 how long have you been doing TMS.
A woman I care for has been doing it for a couple
Months now every day and says she isn’t feeling any different from it. But she has very severe anxiety and depression and actually checked herself into a mental health spa over the holidays

  • @gem7 May I ask how your TMS went? I went for a consultation… it was very expensive but I was curious

I had 36 treatments in Feb/March of 2023. A half hour every day except weekends. I have had a follow up session once for 10 days. It is expensive. I was billed just under
$20,000.00. Medicare recognized this process as an effective treatment a few years ago. I wound up paying $1,300.00 The psychiatrist that treated me has a 92% success rate. I am resistant to depression meds so this was a life saver for me. I have to consider it a success. I will say it hasn't helped with anxiety.

  • @gem7 thanks for sharing. The lady I was taking care of took me with her once and I was always surprised they just hooked her up and that was that. I thought there would be some sort of active therapy that went a long with it

@sage91436 Weekly therapy sessions were part of my treatment.
