I don't remember where I first heard the phrase, though it has stuck with me and I use it as a mantra most days. "The goal isn't perfection, it's reflection."
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – “We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller. We teach them that their voices aren’t important. That they are not good enough, that they shouldn’t take up space. And this, in turn, leads them to accept things they don’t deserve.”
I like dancing. It's like standing still, only faster.
Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink, and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community. Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever. We shall also reflect pleasantly upon how we did the same old thing last year about this time. However, go in, community! New Year's is a harmless annual institution, of no particular use to anybody save as a scapegoat for promiscuous drunks, and friendly calls, and humbug resolutions, and we wish you to enjoy it with a looseness suited to the greatness of the occasion. -Mark Twain

I feel that the quotes that each person chooses to post in this thread tells me so much more about them than their other comments in the forums. Because the quotes reflect what’s important to them personally. Other comments in the threads seem to be more of a gut reaction to another’s opinion. I mean that in the best most positive way!
Instead of saying "If it clucks like a chicken" we should say "If it crows like a cock".

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

A man and his wife took a trip to the zoo. They found a monkey that was playing passionately with his female. His wife told him, "what a romantic." Then they found a lion and his lioness separated from each other; the lion silent and alone in his corner as if the lioness didn't exist.
His wife told him: "What a sad scene without love." Her husband then said to her, "Throw that stone at the lioness and watch." When she threw her, the lion leaped roaring to defend his lioness. They saw the monkeys again and she did the same by throwing a stone; the monkey then jumped and abandoned his female to save his skin.
Her husband then tells her, "Do not be deceived by what you see as romance in some, it is often a deceptive appearance that hides an empty heart; there are others on the contrary who show nothing, but their hearts are full of sincere love."
Unfortunately today we have so many monkeys, and so few lions.

This one is for every time we think we failed or dropped the ball. It was something a health and wellness coach of mine used to say:
Success is starting over.
