I’m curious about your question but if I understand correctly, I can connect to people I hardly know through conversation, shared experience, people I become friends with online. Even people I’ve worked with, connected intellectually or through work events. Had a fun interaction with a guy today in my apartment building as we watched the kids playing in the snow. We talked about many things we have in common, our families etc. We had a great friendly connection! So to me your question could imply a lot of types of connections. But I only trust someone who hasn’t hurt me or who has never broken a trust. Who has always been honest with me. There are people in my family I don’t think I could completely trust because they are unpredictable.

I have encountered this. Sometimes you can have a genuine connection with somebody, in that you have shared experiences or perspectives and in some way 'get' each other. But that doesn't mean you can trust them: they are separate things.
I believe physical attraction is always important......conflating physical attraction with sexual attraction is quite common and happens often in this forum. Physical attraction includes how someone's smile feels to you, their gaze, their smell, and so many other things. So much of the invisible can be sensed subtly in the physical form of the other. Dismissing this for cuddling seems unrealistic, to say the least
