Messages Viewer Expereince

I wanted to make a suggestion to the moderators. Is it possible to change the Messages portion so that we can delete messages from members that we dont want to talk to, are banned, deleted their account etc.? I have so many message threads from people I simply don't talk to and would love to delete them.

Thanks so much!
Hazel

  • I thought you could

  • Old messages are like old photos. They may seem like inconvenient clutter, but on occasion, they later turn out to be rather interesting or useful.

  • @hazelprincess you actually can. Tap the conversation you want to delete then on the upper right, there are three vertical dots. Click them and select “delete conversation” :)

I'm not even tech savvy and I figured that out on my own lol

  • Hey unrelated question, but ther has to be a word for the 3 verticle dots, and horizontal 3 dots

  • Three vertical dots or lines is a hamburger menu.

@hazelprincess ~ Hey! Excellent suggestion--- someone must have felt the same way you do! lol The site caught on to this need and fixed it, just like you asked! :)

At the bottom of each message, there's a "button" with three horizontal dots. Click that. It will give you, at the bottom of the drop down menu, the option to "Delete Conversation." Click that on each bothersome, rude, offensive, non-starter, waste of time message that you find in your Inbox... That ought to fix things for you! :)

There really are some cool people here, and I hope that you find a few who are as happy about cuddling as you are! :)

  • @ReltvlyCanshes I was wondering the same thing!!

Hey unrelated question, but ther has to be a word for the 3 verticle dots, and horizontal 3 dots

lines are a hamburger menu, I found "kebab menu" "meatball menu"

But I love the vertical ellipsis because that makes so much sense.... information that has been left out whether it is a vertical menu or a ... 😊
A time when AI comes in handy.

Three vertical dots are called an ellipsis, which is a punctuation mark that indicates a pause or that words have been intentionally left out. The ellipsis can also be used to suggest an incomplete thought.
The word ellipsis comes from the Ancient Greek word élleipsis, which means "leave out".
The vertical ellipsis is the character "⋮". It can be used to indicate that a list continues vertically, or in math, to mean "is divisible by" or "is a multiple of". For example, 18⋮9 means that 18 is divisible by 9.
In user interfaces, the three-dot menu, also known as the meatballs menu, is a common element that appears as three horizontal dots stacked vertically. It's usually located in the top-left or top-right corner of a window or interface.

    "Options menus"

The things we can learn 😂

  • I'm sticking with vertical ellipsis, it makes sense and everybody should understand even if it's their first time hearing it, i just thought of another one, menu stack should be the lines

  • And if you're switching between horizontal and vertical, that's called Traffic Lights in Conway's Game of Life.

  • I know lots of people already answered and showed how to do the thing.....

I am ALSO grateful that the ideas we have as a community are sometimes implemented. Here's a super cool thread that you can read through. Add to. Chime in about. Offer different perspectives & "Suggestions and Ways This Website Can Be Improved."
    @hazelprincess I love your glasses!!! They're so fabulous. 😊

  • I included a screenshot to show where the delete option is.

    Looks like a domino tile.

  • I've always known three vertical lines as a hamburger menu and the three vertical dots as a kebab menu. Three horizontal dots is not used very often for menus (as far as I am aware of)

  • Wow so much helpful feedback, thanks a much for the assist everyone. I am used to the bulk delete UX design where you can click a box, so I was not expecting the delete one at a time possibility. Appreciate the answers again and I will get a start on this now.
