Mental Health + Cuddling

  • Some people are touch adverse (obviously won’t find them on CC).
People here constantly make these generalizations that everyone needs a hug. Well, that’s just not true and not everyone wants to be cuddled.
My daughter feels anxiety and might feel a physical nerve reaction from touch, she is not very affectionate.
When she was a newborn she literally screamed when placed on my chest. It was one of the most upsetting things I’ve ever experienced. She’s nearly 40 now and still basically the same way. She absolutely does not get why I’m on a Cuddle site lol thinks it’s so bizarre.
Just a reminder, not everyone is like “you”.

Even though I'm on this site there are lots of times , more so than not, where I don't want hugs or cuddles. Sometimes it's great to be alone to myself, or to just share space and time with someone without it having to have anything at all to do with cuddling or touching. I think a big mistake folks make on here is assuming that everyone shares the same touch needs. Not everyone is cuckoo for cuddles and the more realistic expectations are and more efforts put into understanding this, the more success they are likely to have with finding a cuddle friend.

    Hi!

I am touch adverse, and here.

  • Anytime you can regulate your nervous system it is going to be a positive for mental health. It won't replace medical help but it can enhance it.

  • Actually I’m pleased to read the above comments, because I’m like many of you I don’t often need a hug. I tend to enjoy my alone time more than anything. But sometimes when it happens, it’s just so nice and I realize I might’ve missed it.

  • I like to listen to my own body and I know when I'm stressed or just touched out a nice cuddle always helps. They are hard to find now though
