I haven’t been on the boards as much in the past six months but it seems to me that every time I do come on, they seem much less active than they used to be.

@periscope It's their (unpaid) job to make those calls. They are responding to flags from other members. If you have an issue with how they do their jobs, you can always take it up with site ownership.
@WriterGF you seem smart. How do you think the ownership gets around the fair labor standard act?
More less a portion says a for profit business can't have volunteers in one section.
It helps uncle same make sure people are not being taken advantage of.
It's a UK company, not a US company, first of all, so it operates under UK laws.
Moderators are volunteers. Nobody forces them to do the work. It's interesting that you have such objections when you have only been on the site max two weeks. Based on a couple weeks, you know "too many mods do nothing"? You are giving off "previously banned member" vibes.
@periscope I've been a mod on a very different site, and being a mod comes down to using good judgement. If a mod on this site feels that a thread has gotten too political, that's all the person needs to say. They don't need to get bogged down into arguing minutiae with jackasses like me :-)

^^this. It's amazing how much turmoil and drama just one person on a forum can create. Removing just a couple such people makes such a forum much more pleasant for all the rest.

@jubal, in your opinion was the TOS too political. This looks like the last thread to be locked and while there is a lot of talk about laws, in my mind laws are not always politics.

@periscope - I had a thread locked for politics because it was about the insane laws in North Korea. It had me scratching my head at.the time but it isn't that deep.

@sideon needs to have honorary ban hammer privileges reinstated in my opinion. Not for all the times, but kinda like a substitute teacher situation. He may not be a mod anymore but nobody wielded the hammer like him for sure

I analyzed a week’s worth of forum posts back in May of 2024. The forum was averaging 240 posts per day over a 7 day time span. I’ve been too busy with the new job to scrape and analyze the forum again but it sure seems a lot less than 240 post per day.
