I'm not getting any email notifications from this site

[Deleted User]DeleteAccount (deleted user)

Ever since joining, I've never gotten any email notifications, e.g. for new messages.

I've checked my settings and it's set to instant notifications, and my email address is correct.

My spam folder is also clean. It's a hotmail.co.uk address.

I've tried contacting the website through their contact form about a month ago, but no response. Thanks admins...

Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

  • I actually replied to you via email on June 28. If you didn't even get that, then it sounds like something might be going on with your Hotmail account.

By the way, Hotmail often sends emails from this website to spam but if it's not showing there then I'm not sure. Have you double checked you entered your email properly? I notice it's a little unusual as it contains both a hyphen and a period.

@Mark, I have noticed that when I am online, if anyone messages me or mentions me in the forum, email notification gets skipped. First I thought it was a random pattern when email comes or does not come but after few observations, I can fairly confirm the pattern has to do with if a person is online on site or not. I have had several email notifications about forum mentions on me skipped out and not emailed to me and I figured only after I was catching up on forum post and saw couple mentions .. Same with messages too.. Not sure if everyone else have seen this behavior ?

You can review your forum preferences via the Settings page. See here. You don't have emails enabled for mentions.

In regards to messages, if you're online the system waits a few minutes to see if you read the message without needing to be notified. It sounds like you might be sometimes reading the message within that window which means the system decides its not necessary to send you an email. The other scenario where we don't always send an email is ongoing conversations. We would only send an email for the first unread from that same user, again to avoid unnecessary notifications.
