I am amazed at the evolution of the portable gaming console that can be docked, I believe the Nintendo switch got the ball rolling, though it was very underpowered.
Enter the steam deck, capable of running AAA pc games at respectable framrates, for only $400, wow. Low storage capacity though, only using a 2230 NVME drive.
Picked up a ROG Ally X this year, and WOW this thing is amazing. Full 2280 SSD, so super cheap to have 2-4 tb of storage. More power than the steam deck, it's been able to run everything I've thrown at it at super great framerates, prefer to hit 60. Unlike the steam deck the sticks and buttons feel super awesome, like a legit premium device. Docking it when I'm on the road (in my truck) is even better.
Truly amazed that something so compact and light that can be operated in a handheld mode can run modern games so well.
Any nomads out there into mobile gaming? We've come a long way since the gameboy and the lousy 'tiger' devices (all i could get when i was a kid lol).
