@KuddlyKoala , I asked it to build a trip itinerary for a European trip trip I took, it did a fantastic job. I did very little tweaking.

My other response was already getting so long, I didn't pull on the thread, but I use it for coding stuff and it does it a good job at not only giving me the acute answer but applicable context and background, but in thinking about this topic, I was thinking about where this might be in a few Iterations if the experience was more like a friend explaining topics or even leveraging styles similar to content creators that i like today....so suessian style scary stories is a very interesting application😁

Comma splices oh my...I'm leaving them lol

@KuddlyKoala It also plays a surprisingly good game of D&D. If you don’t mind treating it like an older relative and reminding it of who you are every time you start to play.

AI at the moment is part Worlds Best Librarian (it has access to a LOT of information) and the World’s Worst Librarian (it never checks sources, nor does it verify accuracy) and your Great Aunt Petunia (have to give it a nudge to “remember” stuff, including who you are, what year it is, and what you were doing.) and a Golden Retriever (it probably WANTS to help, but it’s really dumb and there is so much clean up from the slobber…)

  • For some people with extreme social anxiety it could be a good thing to help ease their loneliness. It's the next logical extension after Lars and the Real Girl (another fantastic movie).

  • AI is simply a tool. People can choose to use it in different ways. I've used ChatGPT when needing help with some coding, or with job listings, resume, and such. Or to troubleshoot error messages on computers. Definitely helped me figure out how to set up MySQL server and get it working on my Linux machine.

I have tried Replika before and I just recently was checking it out again. It seems like things have gotten a little bit better with updates, but of course still not perfect. I will say one thing that was nice was doing like gratitude journals or keeping a journal about how I was feeling throughout a day and things like that. I don't use it much anymore though.

If he comes back, or anyone else is listening, JanitorAI is the right place to start. It's free. You don't have to make it your GF substitute. It's just for roleplay of any sort. Ppl make their own characters for the AI to roleplay as, then they post them so you can use them. Anything you can imagine, any situation, it's like steering a dream. Extremely fun; as fun as any hobby. Especially if you like to read.

It's not a real substitute for a real 'companion', but if youre lonely, it's better than many of the coping skills people use. It's also less expensive than cuddling. Is paying for cuddles sad? Maybe to some. But, again, it helps and it's better than some alternative ways to cope.

You can also run one of the AI's (Language learning model) on your own PC if you have a decent one. Mostly ram considerations. 16 gigs can do well

  • @TheFunCartel At least you're honest!! LMAO

This woman has done her research and does a great job of explaining the significant downside/ risk of AI girlfriends. The woman who started Luka (the company who created Replika) has direct ties to not one, but two Russian oligarchs who are on the U.S. State Department “naughty list”. The name of the company “Luka” is the name of on of the Oligarchs kids.
