@Jubal good points.
It could a good idea but a site like this doesn’t have the manpower, resources and most likely can’t financially afford to provide a service such as background checks, and keep the members information secure. It would be rather quite costly for a website like this to add background checks. This website would end up having to charge. Seems like website traffic is slow to begin with and the site would probably pretty much die. It’s also really not the websites responsibility to keep record of all of that either. It’s a matter of using your own discretion. I personally would not submit to a background check for a website like this. I don’t take it serious enough. I would get to know the person and talk for a while before agreeing to meet up to cuddle. The upside to a background check would be that the website could weed out a very huge portion of fake profiles and scammers.
@Jubal ’s analogy is perfect.
@JackNJ what makes you think they don't have the $?
If they don't have money, I agrees with what you are saying. I also maybe think they could bring on advitisers to offset (more money)?
@Jubal I agree with you and appreciate your response to the thread. Perfectly said.
What are your guys’s thoughts on the idea of mandatory background check for new users and for current users to keep account active as well as having to go through background check again once in a while to keep the account active?
My thoughts are the same today as they have been the last 47 times this subject has come up (not exactly a new idea). I 1,000% support the right of the OP, or anyone else who wants mandatory background checks, to start their own website and put whatever requirements they want on anyone who wants to join.
I’ve passed multiple, THOROUGH background checks (the type where they call your neighbors and college professors from 20+ years ago) for my work but I have no desire to even go through a minimal background check here. If someone I want to cuddle with wants to see evidence of me passing the background check, I am fine with that, but I am not submitting evidence to any website.
@JohnR1972 I wonder if you'd feel the same way if it were your sister, daughter, or niece in a vulnerable position, being approached by registered sex offenders.
For me personally, it's not about the emotions that potentially bad people being on the site evokes. It's about whether there is a responsibility on the site to institute a background check. For me I don't feel it's their responsibility. It's not about whether or not I want a sex offender in the site. It's not realistic in my opinion. I respect that there is a difference of opinion with this as it is obviously a very valid concern. We just can't always mandate how we feel about something . Everybody agrees that nobody would want to run into a bad person with a violent or sex offense. Not agreeing that the site should implement background checks doesn't mean the concern isn't shared.
As a volunteer moderator, and then being asked to verify ID? Absolutely not. I don't want to know your real names or identity, and I'm certainly not going to do it for free. Hell no.
Anyone, everyone in this day and age has a cell phone. Once two people have connected and decided that they want to initiate either an enthusiast or a Professional cuddle, the very next step would be exchange of current pics. I'm not knocking anyone's gorgeous high school photos, but come on, once you've exchanged contact info the least people can do is exchange pics. The other thing I've always advocated is MEET IN PUBLIC. If you are showing up to meet Brad Pit, but it's Danny Devito, I'd much rather that happen in a Starbucks than in your own home, right?
Common sense, people.
This site is a nexus, but when it comes to verifying who you might meet - that's on you. Each and every one of you.
Ohh ok so I was right after all about @Rapid Cuddler??? I knew he was way too talkative for a newbie who just joined. Or I don’t know why he was banned, but I’m not surprised.
And I know that I’m responsible for my own safety. I am not going to leave it up to someone else. People need to remember, they cannot control others. We can only control ourselves and our own actions. I do still like the idea of an optional ID verification, but if it causes more work for the Mods, then we need to just take care of it ourselves do our own background checks.
Although everyone would like to have safe experience on this site, here are some obstacles to this idea:
1) Expense. There are costs associated with performing background checks. 2) Privacy. Members may have several legitimate reasons for maintaining their anonymity. 3) Data security. The more personal information stored by the site, the greater the risk the site will become a target for data hackers. This would open up the site operators to tremendous liability in that event.
There are several steps you can take to improve your safety. Most are common sense. I'm sure there are other posts that cover this subject. In the end, only you can choose to meet someone and in what manner or not. Choose wisely.
@brownglucose - I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT! 🤦♂️ My memory must be slipping, I COMPLETELY forgot I have two daughters. 🙄
But now that you have reminded me, YES, I still feel the same way.
If my daughters were on this site and someone messaged them wanting meet, I am confident they are smart enough to require a video chat or an in-person meeting in a public location, before being alone with them. I am also confident they would ask to see a photo ID and then look that person up online to see if they were a registered sex offender before going anywhere alone with them.
But for what it’s worth, if my daughters were so obtuse as to meet a stranger from the Internet alone somewhere, then I would agree with you (or they could just wear their magical charm bracelets that keep registered sex offenders from approaching them at the gym and the coffee shop).
@g_w_t_w I think the initial ban happened in one of the Valentine threads ... he got an image of the ban hammer and all its glory there ...
Should be a thing, but no one is gonna pay for it. 🙃
I would pay for it and so would most of my cuddle buddies if I requested that of them.
Create your own site with your own terms and boom problem solved
@GuyverGordon I figured there was something up with him, way more talkative than normal for a new person. Anyway I think he was a previously banned member who thought we all needed to hear more from him. But we really didn’t. 🤷♀️
@g_w_t_w 🤪
For this site it won't happen, but I also think individuals (I won't just say men) need to be open to whatever personal screening or questions someone may have
